Annual Health Check Day 🐑🐐

Today we’re doing our yearly blood testing to make sure our sheep are OPP-free and our goats are CAE-free. Keeping a healthy herd is a top priority for us!

What is OPP? (Sheep)
OPP stands for Ovine Progressive Pneumonia. It’s a viral disease that can cause breathing problems, weight loss, arthritis, and reduced productivity. There’s no cure, and animals may not show signs for a long time while still spreading it to others.

What is CAE? (Goats)
CAE stands for Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis. This is also a viral disease that can lead to joint pain, lameness, mastitis, and weakened immune systems. Like OPP, there’s no cure, and goats can look healthy while carrying it.
