Meet Polly and Prince compliments of Haycreek Farm. I am so excited to add these two to my herd of Oberhaslis. I will be adding some more pictures too since we also have had 4 doelings and 2 bucklings born in the past month.

I am so excited to be having goats on the farm again!! I sold all of the oberhaslis and pygora goats a little over 3 years ago and have missed them so much ever since. So as of September I have a new Oberhasli doe and will be bring home two more who have genetics from my original herd. The three girls are being bred now so are not at the farm but as soon as they get here I will be posting pictures. We have also decided to have a few commercial type meat goats. Below is Annie on the left, and we are still choosing a name for the other lovely girl. I am thinking Bella or Lacey. Annie is technically a Kinder doeling around a 9 months old but because of a flaw was not registered but has a nice build for a meat type goat. The other is a yearling mixed breed. Boer, Nubian, Kiko and who knows what else, but she is put together nice and is very sweet.

In 2018 we lost our sweet Clover and in 2019 we got a new sweet maremma puppy and a golden retriever to keep her company and keep her from terrorizing the small dogs. They quickly became the best of friends and on November 6 Emma had 8 sweet puppies. We are so thrilled.

Hope had her foal November 12. The birth was uneventful. We woke up to do chores and there he was. However, initially we were concerned she didn’t have enough milk but after a few shots of oxytocin she has done well in that department. Then on December 2 Hope coliced. So, it was a late night visit to the vet and up every hour checking on her. It was during the super moo. Which was nice for the middle of the night walks. She did pull through and we just continue to keep and eye on her and make sure she has plenty of hay and water. I thought I was doing that to begin with but don’t want that to happen again. Also, she has not put on her winter coat so we are having to keep her blanketed as it keeps getting cooler. I am just grateful it isn’t bitter cold like up north. We have named the new addition Opie. He is a lot of fun and is coming along with his leading and lifting his feet already. He will whinny sometime when he hears or sees me outside so I know he enjoys our little lessons. We keep his lessons short and on a good note. He loves scratches too. He is growing so fast. Although we have no idea who his sire is he has good confirmation and is gaited like his mama.

As of about 3 weeks ago we are no longer raising Pygora goats. After much thought I was able to sell my entire herd of Pygoras to a great family who are wanting to take off with fiber goats. My first love of goats will always be my Oberhasli dairy goats and sadly I sold almost all of those last year to focus on the Pygoras but I discovered I really enjoy milking and missed it. I would rather milk twice a day than shear twice a year and would rather process milk than fleece. It was fun learning about a new breed of goats and the fiber people are wonderful. I hope the Hatch family enjoys their herd of Pygoras. And I will be on the hunt for a few more Oberhasli to grow them a bit more.

Diamond had her babies a little early (Friday March 10th). We were expecting her to have them a little closer to the 17th however colder weather and a full moon I think led to her delivering early. She has three but sadly we lost one. She has two pretty little doelings I will be posting better pictures soon. This one was when they were still wobbly and a little cold.
