Look festive for spooky season AND stay safe and visible by wearing blaze orange when enjoying the outdoors this fall.

Remember, hunting is a safe activity, and responsible hunters always:
• Treat every fi***rm as if it were loaded.
• Positively identify their target and what lies beyond it.
• Follow all rules and regulations.

Not a hunter? Remember these tips:
• Be safe, be seen! Avoid wearing earth-toned colors and wear an orange vest or hat to stand out.
• Keep pets leashed and visible.
• Know when and where hunting is allowed.

Hello All 😀
It’s been a while since we last posted on here, but lately Roosters have become a topic of conversation.
We would like to clear up the “rules or bylaws” of having a rooster in our town.
There are not any specific rules about having chickens or a rooster in Groton.
* However we do know, that some people don’t appreciate the harmonious singing of a rooster.
The considerate, neighborly thing to do is to close your poultry in between nightfall and a reasonable morning hour.
( think of it as what would be quiet hours )
While we know this will not appease everyone, it will help to make some neighbor’s happier.
{ tips for closing them up at night could be locking in a dark coop, putting them in a dog kennel with a blanket for darkness over them, helping to soundproof their bedtime area }
It also helps to educate people on the pros to having chickens and roosters.
Giving eggs on occasion doesn’t hurt either!
Please reach out to our Agricultural Commission if you have any questions, or concerns.

Thank you! 😊 🐓
