Spring calving is happening right now for a lot of herds.
This is the window where calcium matters most. Fresh cows are at peak risk for hypocalcemia in the first 24 hours after calving — and the ones you lose to milk fever or subclinical calcium deficiency this month will affect your milk production numbers all the way through summer.
One thing that surprises a lot of farmers: you don't have to see a cow go down to have a hypocalcemia problem. Subclinical cases — where the cow never shows obvious symptoms — still hit immune function hard. She's more likely to get mastitis, less likely to rebreed efficiently, and her peak production will be lower than it should be.
That's the whole reason we made the No B.S. Calcium Bolus the way we did. Calcium chloride, 44g per bolus, absorbs in 30 minutes. No waiting around hoping the carbonate kicks in while the window closes.
If you're heading into a busy calving stretch and you're not stocked up yet, now's the time.
Pack of 54 — $5/bolus, free shipping. First order ships with a free bolus gun. 100% money back if it doesn't work.
