Meet Chipmunk! We got her from Singler Family Farm back in December. We went to pick up some newly hatched pullets and my daughter saw a single chipmunk patterned chick and insisted we needed it. I was not thrilled because I didn’t want another rooster, but consented. Amazingly, she turned out to be a pullet and has grown into this beautiful girl who has consistently been laying us some white fairy eggs. She also likes to show off that she can jump our newly built 7’ fence. 🤦‍♀️ As we say around here, .

I never expected our Penedesencas to go broody! But, they did. One of them had one chick hatch and unfortunately, it had an untimely passing. This mama hatched two babies and has been the best mom. She is protective of those babies.

She has insisted on keeping them with the flock and has made sure the other hens know not to mess with them. In spite of a dry coop, the chickens wanted to scratch in the rain. She had to keep the babies warm as they made their way around the yard. 🥰

Y’all… I can’t even! This is the cutes chick. We were waiting for some orphaned chicks to put under Margarita because we were sure her clutch was all duds. This baby hatched on day 24!!! 😍 It is an MJ and Earl baby. Hoping to keep the dark chocolate egg color going if this is a pullet.

We have been in a constant state of “go” the last 6 weeks. Always something to do and somewhere to be. Right now. We are working on some fancy new fences for our chickens. 🐓 I did yard dishes this weekend! There is always something to be done around here. But, I figure life would be really boring if not.

Little Buzz (not a real name yet) is a little more skittish than our other chicks. Slowly growing, and loves her Aunty Tennessee! She is our second bantam chick born on the homestead. Have no clue what this cutie will look like, she is something else!
