I just want to take a moment to be really transparent with you guys.
With the loss of my father a couple of months ago, Iāve been grieving a lot. Not just the loss of my dad, but the loss of so much more. My mom passed away about eight years ago, and all of my grandparents have passed as well. Iām grieving the fact that I donāt have parents or grandparents anymore. Iām grieving the relationships I always hoped I would have with my parents and knowing that thereās no longer a chance for those relationships. Iām grieving the fact that my kids wonāt get the opportunity to have the close relationship with their maternal grandparents that I always wanted them to have.
I have a wedding picture of my mom and dad sitting in my living room thatās been there since my dadās funeral. Last night, my 5 year old son looked at it and said, āIf you miss your dad, you can just come over here and give him a kiss⦠because heās ādied.āā š
š„¹ It was so sweet and innocent, and honestly, broke my heart a little.
Because in that moment, I realized that my kids will never have memories of my parents. They wonāt remember their grandparents being here. They wonāt have the stories, the little moments, or the relationship I always wanted for them.
And something else I never expected to hurt this much⦠Iām grieving my childhood home. My dad didnāt own it so weāve been cleaning it out to get ready to hand over the keys to the owners. It was the only other place I ever lived and I always considered home. Losing that piece of my childhood has brought up emotions I wasnāt prepared for. Thereās just a lot of grief happening right now. A lot of emotions, sadness, memories, and things Iām still trying to process.
And after last weekend being so slow, I started getting really concerned that maybe this season Iām going through has started affecting my work and the quality of what Iām putting out. I know business has its slow days and slow weekends, and Iām not blaming the lack of sales on anything other than that. But it did make me stop and wonder if Iām giving Sabor & Sweet the same energy and attention that I normally do. If I havenāt, Iām sorry!
Sabor & Sweet is a dream of mine. Itās something I worked hard to make a reality, and I donāt want to give up on it. But I also know that I need to give myself some time to work through everything emotionally and mentally so that I can come back and give you guys the very best of me. So Iām taking a little time off. Iām hoping that stepping back for a little while will allow me to breathe, process everything, and find my way back to myself.
Thank you for being patient with me, for supporting me, and for understanding that thereās a real person behind Sabor & Sweet who is going through a really difficult season right now.Iām not throwing in the towel, Iām just taking a little step back. I WILL still be taking special orders!
I hope to be back 100% very soon. ā¤ļø
