I sell at local vendor markets, primarily at the historic Hagerstown City Farmers Market.

Welcome to Dave's Delicious Jams page! I will post events I will be at and available items when farmers markets open up. In the meantime, here are some facts:

JELLY: made using the juice extracted from the fruit and does not contain the fruit’s flesh

JAM: made using the entire fruit

PULP JAM: made using the residual fruit flesh (β€œpulp”) after juice has been extracted for jelly. As I do not use pectin in my pulp jams, the β€œgel” consistency will differ than traditional jam. The fruit density will also be heavier.

RS/LS JAMS: RS and LS indicate the degree of sugar used in a recipe. RS is a reduced sugar recipe that contains 60% of the sugar used in a standard batch whereas LS is a low sugar recipe that contains up to 30% of the sugar. Sometimes I use a sugar substitute for a low-sugar recipe.

WINEBERRY: also known as Japanese wineberry, Rubus phoenicolasius is a non-native plant similar to the raspberry. Having been introduced in 1890 to cross-hybrid with raspberries, it eventually went wild and can be found in most states east of the Mississippi River. The fruit is red in color with a shiny gloss and a sticky feel when harvesting. It has a tart flavor unlike the sweetness of a raspberry.

LOCAL: I use local fruits as much as possible. Peaches and strawberries came from local farms, I grow raspberries myself, and I forage the wineberries.
