WHY THE DINNER TABLE? 🍽️
I’ve been feeling something deeply in my heart for sometime now… that the Lord is calling us back to the table.
Not just to eat, but to reconnect. To slow down. To look one another in the eyes, share our stories, pray together, laugh together, and make room for meaningful conversations.
Somewhere along the way, our connection with one another has slowly faded. We pull into our garages, close the door, and retreat into our own little worlds. Families rarely sit down to eat together anymore, and inviting others into our homes can feel like something we’ll get around to someday.
But what if the table is part of the answer?
What if something beautiful happens when we open our homes, prepare a meal, and invite others to sit with us?
During a recent Zoom podcast conversation with Theresa, she shared a line that has stayed with me:
“The table is holy ground.”
Think about that for a moment. ❤️
The table can be a place where burdens are shared, friendships deepen, prayers are spoken, and people who feel forgotten discover they belong. Throughout Scripture, we see the importance of gathering, breaking bread, and doing life together.
Maybe the Lord is gently reminding us that hospitality isn't about having the perfect home, an elaborate meal, or everything looking just right. It's about making room for people.
A simple meal can become an extraordinary opportunity to show someone they are loved.
So, what if we started coming back to the table? What if we invited someone over this week? What if we put the phones away, lingered a little longer, and made space for the kind of connection our hearts were created for?
The table is more than a place to eat. It can be a place where faith grows, love is shared, and fellowship is restored.
