Some routines are so ordinary you never think to call them memories. Every morning, Mama opened this door to find them waiting for her. She would come out, sick or not, handing out love and some snacks. Now they wait for a door that won’t open, to greet a person who is no longer here, and I’m learning just how sacred the ordinary was. I don't know how to explain it to them. They wait until the sun comes over the fence. It is the only time of day these two are calm and quiet.

Celebration of Life

Mama’s Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God – The Possibility Church, located at 160 Clemmer Road, Rockingham, NC 28379.

In lieu of traditional cut flowers, we ask that those wishing to send flowers consider potted plants or flowers. Following the service, her children and grandchildren will transplant them at her Treehouse at RBF Farm & Sanctuary, where we are creating a living memorial in her honor.

The Treehouse held a special place in Mama’s heart. She loved seeing it lit from her window and asked that its lights be turned on whenever a new life was welcomed into the Sanctuary.

Now, the Treehouse will also be lit in her honor, a place that will continue to grow and bloom, and where her light will shine alongside every new life that finds its way to the Sanctuary.

All are welcome to join us as we remember and celebrate her life. Please feel welcome to wear a hat in her honor.

Tonight, we said goodbye to Mama.

RBF Farm & Sanctuary exists because of her. What began as something we started for Mama grew into something much bigger, a place built around compassion, second chances, and the belief that every life has value.

Mama was a presence you couldn't miss, and her absence leaves a silence we aren't quite sure how to navigate yet.

The sanctuary will continue. Her story will always be woven into its beginning, and we will carry a piece of her forward in everything we build here.

We may be a little quieter on this page for a while as we give ourselves time to grieve, take care of one another, and find our footing again. The animals will still be here demanding breakfast, causing chaos, and reminding us that life continues even when our hearts need some time to catch up.

Thank you for loving this little sanctuary, for loving Mama through our stories, and for keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers.

We will be back. We just need a little time.

Things are a little unsettled here at RBF Farm and Sanctuary

Ma is still in the ICU. I wish I knew more about what will happen I just don't

Today, I had an allergy test done after being told my entire life that I just have seasonal allergies, during every season, I learned I am actually allergic to dogs and mold that is found absolutely everywhere.

Dogs, I have 6 and don't plan to change that but how ironic on National Dog day for a lifelong dog lover, to find out they are allergic.

In honor of mama I am posting a photo of her beloved Redford, still with us and spunky as ever (white) and my Beau (spaniel) who passed years ago. It is one if my favorites as it shows Beau sharing a little treat with Redford.

We’ve been a little quiet around here lately. Life has needed more of our attention than social media has, and sometimes that’s just the way it has to be.

I just wanted to pop in and say how much we appreciate everyone who has checked on us, kept our family in your thoughts, and sent prayers our way. They are felt, and they mean more than you know.

The farm is still farming, the animals are still creating their usual chaos, and hopefully we’ll be back to sharing it with you soon.

Chickens held an emergency cub Cadet meeting today and decided we have not been giving enough treats out.

Not Farm related but currently sitting with Ma at the hospital. Won't be getting out our usual content for a few days.

Unfortunately, it seems her chemo maybe be having a serious side effect causing her to be seriously ill. They are treating it seriously she will be here awhile. The medication that has helped push the cancer back and give her more time, may now be causing more harm than good, an unfair battle to fight. Pray for her.
