⏰ Spring Forward Reminder from the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company 🚒
As we Spring Ahead to Daylight Saving Time, the members of the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company remind everyone to:
“Change Your Clock, Change Your Batteries.”
When you adjust your clocks this weekend, take a few minutes to replace the batteries in all smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms in your home. This simple step can save lives.
🔥 Did You Know?
According to the National Fire Protection Association:
• Roughly 3 out of 5 home fire deaths occur in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.
• 38% of home fire deaths happen in fires where no smoke alarms are present.
• The risk of dying in a home fire is cut in half when homes have working smoke alarms.
🏠 Smoke Alarm Safety Tips
• Install smoke alarms in every sleeping room and outside each sleeping area
• Install alarms on every level of the home, including the basement
• Use interconnected smoke alarms so when one sounds, they all sound
• Test smoke alarms monthly by pressing the test button
• Remember: a closed door may slow the spread of smoke, heat, and fire
Working smoke alarms are a critical part of your home fire escape plan.
Take a few minutes this weekend to protect your family.
