Happy ! In recognition of our "Crunch into Cucumbers" week, we wanted to recognize one local farm that has cukes available, along with so much more! Matt and Karen Koenig of Koenigs' Acres Farm in Hampton, have a 25 acre farm that has been selling locally grown, chemical free produce for almost 20 years! They also raise poultry, selling home-butchered birds from the farm and to increase pollination on the farm, we raise bees and sell the honey.
The Koenigs attend farmers markets in both Hampton and Iowa Falls, as well as host a CSA program. Due to Covid, if you have Senior or WIC checks, this year you may use them at OUR farm!!
Effective today, June 18th, 2020, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship is suspending enforcement of certain restrictions limiting the use of WIC and Senior FMNP vouchers to previously authorized FMNP farmers markets and farmstands. Through October 31st of this year, FMNP vouchers may be accepted by any certified FMNP producer at that producerโs primary grow site(s) within the state of Iowa, unless modified by the Department at an earlier date. The complete Notice of Suspension is attached to this email. Please note the suspension does not impact the acceptance of FMNP vouchers at locations that have been approved to accept the vouchers including FMNP authorized farmers markets and permanent farmstands as well as authorized moveable farmstands. Along with these authorized locations, this suspension allows additional acceptance of vouchers at certified vendorโs primary grow sites.
