Yesterday we lost one of the sweetest, most gentle souls-our girl, Sadie. When we began fostering her four and a half years ago, she had heartworm, mammary tumors, gum disease, and skin issues. We thought we'd help her out for a few months and then send her on to her forever home. Turns out, that forever home was us. We couldn't imagine giving her back after her foster time was up.

Sadie was the perfect dog for our family-great with our girls, gentle with our cats, and a constant companion in the flower fields while we were out harvesting or planting. Where ever we were, she wanted to be, too.

Sadie was pure love, kindness, and acceptance. She was all the things that we should aspire to be. Our sweet girl will be so greatly missed.

How is it already August?! Hope you're enjoying your summer-we have been harvesting sunflowers nonstop like this lovely Procut Plum sunflower. 🌻

Another day of smoke, insane black flies, and bunnies decimating newly planted sunflowers. Harvesting is wild with super fine ash falling off every flower. 😳 Farming is wild in general--you never know what you're going to encounter. Some days it's amazing, and other days it's, well--this (excuse the scary mask, it was the only one I could find at a moment's notice--though, I think it probably reflects the current mood well 😂).

As inconvenient as this all is, we are still grateful. Grateful that we have a (much less smokey) home to sleep in each night and our fields and greenhouses-our livelihood-are also safe. And our thoughts go out to our Canadian neighbors who are dealing with a whole lot more than just smoke right now. Hoping all of this will pass soon!

Stop down and see us at the Harbor Springs Farmers Market today, Wednesday, July 1 from 9-1 p.m. (there will be NO market on Saturday, July 4) or the Petoskey Farmers Market on Friday, July 3 from 8:30-1 p.m. and get some pretty flowers for the Fourth!

Many of you have met Teresa, who volunteers every single Saturday at the Harbor Springs Farmers Market with us. She always has a great attitude, a big smile, and a kind word for everyone who stops by the booth. We are so incredibly grateful for her!
