From seed to stem...with the exception of our lisianthus (which we would have to start in December for them to flower in August) and a few other early greenhouse crops, every one of our flowers starts out as a tiny seed (some VERY tiny--looking at you, snapdragons!). Trays are filled with seed starter and each seed is placed in a cell by hand--nothing automated here. It's time consuming for sure, but exceptionally rewarding to see that little seed grow into a plant and eventually produce beautiful flowers. Monday is always seeding day and a couple of months from now, these seeds will tranform into lovely market bouquets!

On May 24, 2008, we said "I do." For the past 18-plus years, we've been through so much--military life/deployments, two wonderful children, countless beloved pets, many moves, several jobs, starting a business together, and much more. We are grateful for all these years together, the ups, the downs, and everything in between and are hopeful for many more anniversaries to come!

Spring finally seems to have made an appearance! We've been busy harvesting tulips several times per day with all this lovely weather lately. It's important to harvest tulips before they fully bloom in the field, but on warm, sunny days, thats not always easy. 🤪 There are so many pretty varieties-we can't wait to share them with you at the next Saturday, May 23!

FYI, the Petoskey Farmers Market will be starting a week later than originally planned due to construction on Howard Street. We will see you there on Friday, May 29!

While we may be starting market one week later this year on May 29th that doesn't stop us from being excited in welcoming this years line up! New vendors will continue to be added as space allows.

Rising costs everywhere have made things challenging for so many people lately. In the last year alone, our farm has experienced a 30-percent increase in expenses which includes everything from bulbs and seeds to field amendments and propane and more. Because of this, prices will be increasing for our medium and large wrapped bouquets this year starting May 22.

Truthfully, we went back and forth about this decision and it hasn't been an easy one! And while we realize that you have the option to spend less for flowers elsewhere, we hope that you choose to support our small, family-owned farm that is dedicated to bringing you the loveliest, freshest-cut flowers.
