I have this Katahdin ram lamb available for breeding or to sell or trade. 9 months old. May possibly sell his sister with him but I am still debating. Will not sell the ewe lamb alone though
$250 or will consider trading for the perfect 4h market lamb prospect born for end of June weigh in.
Daughter is wanting a speckled faced lamb to show. Idk why it has to be speckled faced but that was her requirement. So we are giving it a try I guess.

Some of the Monarch butterflies we reared and released this year.

Most butterflies live only 6 to 8 WEEKS but some called Super Generations or Super Butterflies live up to 9 MONTHS. These are the ones who make the remarkable migration which many start in Canada and make their way down to Mexico which is about a 3000 mile journey. Others like ours hatch in WV and also migrate to Mexico where they are protected and hibernate through the winter.
Along the way they are at risk of being killed by pesticides and lack of plants to feed on and that is why their population dramatically decreased and MonarchWatch started their program to start tagging them.
The hope is that once there is solid evidence of their migration route pesticides will be banned in those areas at least during their peak migration times. Which some areas already do protect them thanks to this. You can help by tagging butterflies you catch or rear. For 25 tags the cost is $15. They can be ordered from MonarchWatch.org. They have information and tutorials on everything you need to know and the specially made tags do not harm the butterflies.
You can also plant Milkweed that is free from any pesticides to help regrow some of their natural habitat.
I noticed this year that many of the milkweeds were dying off before the catepillars had grown big enough to turn into their chrystalis so I will be trying to grow some that will last longer into the season.

But there is also another risk to these butterflies. It is referred to as OE and it is a protozoan that gets inside the butterflies intestinal tract when they eat their egg or milkweed infected and severely weakens the caterpillar making it either unable to complete it's metamorphosis into a butterfly, or causing it to have underdeveloped and or weak wings. I will explain more about OE in another post.

Hopefully their tags make it here before they emerge as butterflies. I have 16 but need 25 to fill all the tags. I will continue looking but it's been dry here and the milkweeds are starting to turn and dry up so it's getting harder to find them.
