Thank you to everyone who brought prepared food and donated items.

Thank you, Bethany Church of the Nazarene, Country Gourmet at the Market, Panera Bread and those who picked up and dropped off donations from these places.

My hard-working team of volunteers this weekend included Donna, Jerry, Emma, Carol, Bob, Arleen, Kinsley, Aunt Ash, Sarah, Kathy, Chelsea, Danielle, Thomas, Alexa, Sue, Molly, and Amy. Did I forget anyone? Y'all are amazing.

Donna and I spent several hours in the kitchen on Saturday.

We are in need of soup containers with lids and cold drink cups.

September and October, the folks who pick up at the WestShore Farmers market for us on Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. are going to be out of the country. If anyone is interested, it just involves visiting the market and picking up at one stand and bringing the items to the church. If you are picking up the items and you're coming to volunteer on Sunday anyway, you could just bring them with you Sunday if you have room to store them overnight.

Thank you to everyone who helps make this possible every week. ❤️

Two things:
First, thank you to those of you who sent me sympathy cards after the loss of my father. Each one I open touches my heart.
Second, I am slowly but surely washing my dad's clothes so that I can pass them on to others. I didn't realize what an emotional experience it would be. Last week I gave three pairs of Dad's pajamas to a young man at a halfway house and when he saw me today he came up to me and said, "Ms. Michon, thank you so much for the pajamas. They fit like a glove and they smelled so good!" I told him they were very special because they belonged to my father. I washed them twice with my favorite laundry detergent and then I didn't rinse out all the fabric softener in the final rinse so I hoped he would like the way they smelled. He said sometimes he just picks them up and smells them! He thanked me again and told me he'll take very good care of them. ❤️ That interaction with him was the best part of my day. It totally made it easier for me to work through washing dad's clothes to share with others.

Me and Dad, early 70's.

Volunteers this week: Jerry, Bob, Carol, Kaitie, Aunt Ash, Kinsley, Kathy, Amy, Thomas, Danielle, George, Emma, and Cody.

What a blessing to have several people stop by with prepared dishes! Makes our lives so much easier! Thank you to those who put your heart in your recipes and brought hot food for our differently sheltered friends.

We saw 90+ people at our first stop, some taking food for others, and then 30 at our second stop. Thank you, Jennie, for the count. It's hard for us to do it so I appreciate you! It's hard to estimate how many bellies we filled, but that's a good jumping off point.

Sunday's menu for our differently sheltered friends included:
Chicken fried rice
Fresh carrots with browned butter and brown sugar
Stuffed pepper soup with cabbage
Thanksgiving casserole, back by popular demand
Chili, by request of a birthday boy
Cornbread
Pasta with mushrooms, mozzarella and ricotta cheeses, and red sauce
Beans and weens
Mac and cheese
Pasta salad
Tuna salad
Bread pudding
Cookies, pastries, muffins, bagels, croissants and other assorted goodies
Coffee, iced tea with lemon, raspberry tea, bottled water
And several other things that have escaped my memory. I'm getting old.

Thank you, Bethany Church of the Nazarene, Country Gourmet at the Market, Panera Bread and everyone who made donations of food and other items.

I have no idea how I would do this without my wonderful team: Jerry, Bob, Emma, Ashley, Kathy, Sarah, Alexa, Sam, Ally, Danielle, Molly, and Tom. Alexa is my friend and volunteer who is also an executive producer at CBS 21 and Sunday she brought local celebrity Tom Russell, (Chief meteorologist AKA primo weather dude) with her. Did I forget anyone? Again with the memory.

We did sing Happy Birthday to Scotty with his birthday chili and when we were done I told him to blow out his cornbread. 🤣

Our wish list includes scouring pads for our kitchen cleanup duty, bottled drinks, powdered cans of drinks, napkins, clamshell containers, single portion soup containers with lids, coffee cups with lids, cold drink cups...We need a lot of stuff!

Always welcome: gift cards for grocery stores (I spend about $100 every week add to the donated ingredients) and we never turn away good old fashioned cash donations. That helps us buy what we need in the moment, whether it's meat, milk, cheese, butter, eggs, and other perishables or immediate needs for our friends. We have venmo, PayPal, cash app, and if anyone is interested in dropping off cash or a check, we are there every Sunday at the church from 11:00 a.m. a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The address is in our profile picture. Checks can be made out to The Eclipse Project as we have our own bank account.
If you'd prefer to mail a donation, please address the envelope to:
Michon Zalewski
5955a Linglestown Road
Harrisburg PA 17112
We can't do this without donations from the average big-hearted Joe.

As always, if you'd like to donate some prepared food, that takes some of the load off of us as well. We serve about a hundred people every week, but you don't need to make something for 100 people. Each pan of food we receive contributes to our meal.

If you're interested in volunteering, please ask any questions below or feel free to send a message.

Thank you and God bless!
