An uncharacteristic August 1st day. 65 degrees and misty. The cattle enjoyed the reprieve from the heat!

This group of excellent commercial cow-makers will be available in October. They will be bred to registered purebred and fullblood Woods Fork Cattle Company and Lone Pine Farms South Poll bulls. Corriente cross 25%-50% (Markway and Cope) with South Poll and Ohlde Angus genetics. The type of low-input grass genetics that will work anywhere!

We saw some beautiful farms traveling to the Missouri South Poll gathering near Adrian yesterday. I returned home to the pretty sight of a storm front rolling into our area. Red cows, green grass, sunshine, and blue sky create a wonderful landscape!

We had great help vaccinating the herd in preparation for breeding season. The 5th generation of Cravens' to work on this piece of land may be the most entertaining!

We got everything taken care of for the day, despite some hiccups. It does take a while to feed 14 bales of hay when the tractor will only run in low range. We believe we had a fuel-gelling problem. To speed things up, I used one of our natural bale unrollers (one of our many Ozark hills).

We received this picture today. A home-raised purebred South Poll heifer that didn't breed in our 45 day window was grass-finished by Ryan Gunn. I think his customers will be happy with the results! Grass-finished can be a wonderful eating experience, with added health benefits, when the right genetics meet the right forage.

We were blessed to be able to acquire the neighboring farm recently. It is exciting to roll out the first run of polywire on a place that has been set stock for years. This is the first of many polywire runs and we are excited for the soil and grass improvements that we will see ahead with our grazing management.
The acreage also provides a beautiful, rolling Ozark Hills view of our home farm. Flat land is boring!
