SOLD: Looking to quick sale one of my mares- she is trail broke to no ends and has been gamed on, had kids ride her and is the sweetest thing. Only reason for sale is too many horses and she is needing more one on one attention PRICE REDUCED 25oo
18-20 year old grade mare
Bailey: 18-20 Year Old Grade Mare (14ish hands, Grey, beginner/intermediate or step up from pony horse)
Things She has Done/Environments exposed too :
Games (WSCA- poles, barrels, speed events etc.)
Trail Rides with and w/o traffic)
Arena work
Round Pen work
Pastures well in groups or small dry lots with 1 or 2 other horses
Her Pros:
Ties well
Loads like a champ in any trailer I have exposed her too
Gets along with everyone (she is passive and will give in to more dominant horses but finds her place in the hierarchy well)
Easy keeper (either on hay 24/7 or small amounts of grain and hay fed twice daily)
Ground manners are good, she will respect any level of horseman and listens well
Stands like a champ for farrier and vet
Wonderful trail horse, she follows or rides out alone. (Husband, kid or b**r type of broke for the trails)
Bathes and crossties
sprays good with anything
Rides bit-less (hack or Side pull) also rides better in a bit (o ring snaffle or junior cow horse)
Her Vices:
She can get hot during games; I have seen it the worst in poles and barrels but with an adult rider or experienced kid/teenager she would be awesome. If you give her a lot of direction with your hands she will throw her head around a bit you have to give her head and let her do her job (per her old owners she was not like that with kids)
She does get front shoes when she is in work (if you rode casually once or twice a week she might be fine but she’s a sensitive girl on gravel or hard surfaces then)
I have left her for two weeks and have had the same horse when I get back on; she is very straight forward and a horse who would best be suited for a kids step up horse or an adult beginner. If she is solely a kids horse I would keep lead lining her and working with her to make sure your kid and her mesh well. I have had no issues but she hasn’t had a kid on her in over a year so I am being overly cautious on how I explain. (I have now started teaching lessons on her and she has been good, a bit goofy when you want to out the brakes on her just because she’s sensitive in her face I’ve only experienced this during gaming lessons) she trail rode this weekend like a champ.
