Last day of fall break for Andover! 🍂🍁 It’s looking very fall-ish around here and while we’ve enjoyed the break, we’ve sure missed our students! We can’t wait to have all those little voices back on Monday! ❤️ Especially Maui and Merryweather 🐰 🐰 they aren’t used to the quiet! Happy Friday 🍁 looking forward to Monday!

Most kids would be ecstatic about a weeklong fall break, but not this boy! 🍁 He’s asked me more than once why teachers need a break, why people need breaks in general and has made it very clear that HE does not need a break and will be coming to school anyway 🤣 We lingered around after everyone left yesterday for a little extra school time 😊 This boy right here is how Andover Prep came to be. He’s the heart behind it all and I can’t tell you how much it means to me that he loves it so much❤️

We had Mrs. Pamela Aycock come visit us today and teach us all about the different ways we can preserve food! 🥒 Dehydrating, flash freezing, pickling and canning! She brought examples of each for the students to see and learn about and they even got to pickle their very own cucumbers to take home!

Such an interesting morning! I personally learned a lot myself! 😂❤️ We love getting to bring real-life skills into our classroom, especially ones that have been passed down through generations. A big thank you to Mrs. Pam for sharing her time and knowledge with us! ❤️

Maui is getting neutered today because as much as we love our bunnies, we definitely do NOT want baby bunnies running around! 😂🐰I went to pick him up this morning and found that BK had made him a little get well card❤️ It’s the little things 🥹 Praying our sweet Maui has an easy surgery and quick recovery!

‼️Full disclosure‼️

If your child comes to Andover, you will have sand in your house 😂 Sand in their shoes, socks and somehow in places that make absolutely no sense! Before we built the sandbox and added all the outside play areas, I asked our teachers and parents who were already here, “What are your thoughts?” Everybody said DO IT and the kids absolutely love it. So here we are, sand er’where 🏝️❤️ We like to share the good, the fun, and be real with you so the reality is, sometimes Andover comes home with you in your shoes 😂👟

Welcoming our new student, Bailey (BK), to the Andover Prep crew this morning! ☀️We are so excited to have her and she is VERY excited to be here! ❤️

I’ve had 3 different families reach out within the last week asking about late admission and the answer is YES, we are absolutely still welcoming new students! Freedom Ranch Wildlife Center was back for their monthly visit and this month was REPTILES! 🐍🦎

The kids met Deen the green iguana, Plato the plated lizard, and Jane the albino ball python. They learned that reptiles are ECTOthermic, have backbones, and rely on outside heat sources to help regulate their body temperature.They got to pet them, ask questions (they had many!), and even hold Jane if they wanted to😳🤣 I was perfectly content letting the kids handle that part. They absolutely loved it! I love that each month they get to meet animals they may never otherwise see up close and learn about them in such a hands-on way ❤️ As always, Mrs. Krissy was phenomenal.

And because apparently reptiles weren’t enough excitement for one day 🤣 we finished it off celebrating our birthday girls (Millie & Charlie) and saying goodbye to summer with a waterslide, pizza, and cupcakes! 🎉💦🍕🧁
Such a fun Friday from start to finish ❤️

Getting super crafty for fall over here 🍂🎨🌽They think they’re just painting, making handprints and stringing beads but there’s a whole lot of learning happening in the middle of all that fun. These simple projects are working on fine motor & visual motor skills, hand-eye coordination, Pincer grasp & hand strength, bilateral coordination, patterns, counting & sequencing but most of all Confidence. They get to create something all by themselves and be proud of the finished product ❤️ So yes…we’re getting super crafty for fall, but there’s a lot more happening at that table than just arts and crafts 🍁 Learning through play and creating will forever be one of our favorite ways to learn at Andover Prep.
