Our winery's name, Sanglier, French for "wild boar", was chosen because the boar roam and rule the woods of East Texas, as well as the vineyards of Sonoma. They have a presence everywhere in France, where we draw enormous inspiration for both food and wine. Hogs and Frogs Wine Club was created this past spring after Chelsea co-hosted a private wine tasting with her sorority sisters in Fort Worth.
She poured a selection of her family's wines, with primarily TCU alumni in attendance, and realized there is a fun way to share her father's wine not only with close friends, but with the entire TCU community, that she very much considers an extended family. Chelsea made it her mission to create a program of private wine parties and an exclusive wine club, with the distinct ambition of getting friends to unite over a good bottle of wine. Chelsea understands that not everyone is a wine "connoisseur", or "aficionado", and that the whole process of choosing the right wine with dinner can be daunting. Sometimes you just need a big glass of wine after a long day of work, or a bottle to entertain friends when they drop on by. By creating Hogs & Frogs Wine Club, she is simplifying the wine selection process for TCU alumni, by delivering small-lot wines to your door, and offering club pricing on family-farmed, hand-crafted wines sourced from some of the finest vineyards in Sonoma County. The wines included in Hogs & Frogs are small-lots of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Rhône and Bordeaux varietals from diverse areas of Sonoma County. Chelsea's father Glenn Alexander founded Bacchus Vineyard Management, in 2004, and now manages over 800 acres of premium grapes throughout Napa and Sonoma County. Of these 40+ vineyards, he carefully selects fruit from the best rows for Sanglier's bottlings. Our philosophy is "If we don't farm it, we don't make it." And these wines, available to our fellow TCU Frogs, convey this deep family tradition of farming, love for Sonoma County, and just opening wines in your home that make you smile, relax, make you a part of what we do out here.
