This morning our family was honored at the Wisconsin State Fair as a sesquicentennial farm — 150 years of continuous family ownership. It’s hard to put into words what it means to carry on a legacy built by previous generations who poured their lives into this land and this way of life.

We owe this legacy in large part to a man named August Broedlow and his wife Juliana, who in 1875 believed in the American dream and inevitably risked everything they had to move here from Prussia.

We’re proud to stand on the shoulders of these past generations, grateful for the foundation they laid, and honored to continue this work for the generations to come.

Today we reflect on 250 years of freedom. We recognize that without God such a feat would have never been possible and we trust in Him that it will continue for many generations to come. We pause to remember all those who gave some and those who gave all to protect our freedom. Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

Our farmhouse exterior is getting some much needed TLC this summer. We removed the old siding last weekend and Cozy Walls Foam Insulation just finished filling the walls with spray foam insulation. We can already tell a huge difference, it is much quieter in the house. They did a great job and we would definitely recommend them. They are family owned and were terrific to work with. If you need to insulate an existing building check them out! Next step new siding, trim and gutters.

A few weeks ago Liz made this beautiful cross for us to display on our barn. Such a talent she has turning metal into amazing works of art! She even engraved a favorite Bible verse of ours on the back. But for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15 Thank you again Liz!

It has been an intense week of severe weather around here. Too many weather warnings to count but fortunately no damage and we sure appreciate the warmer temps. The mamas have been doing great caring for their littles. Spending most of the day out in the pasture and heading for shelter when storms move in. We’ve added 5 new calves this week already! Here’s a little walk around the barn tonight just as another storm moved in.
