Magnolia leaves ๐Ÿ‚ A few months ago they wouldn't have meant much to me but this past week made me stop and thank God for where He has me right now.
I've been driving around neighborhoods on the hunt for bags of leaves for months
since our property doesn't have trees and I love using leaves for mulch.
Last week was the first time I came across bags of leaves (shout out to whoever lives behind Coffee Central and had about 10 bags of leaves on the curb ๐Ÿ˜‚). I didn't look at them too close and quickly put some in my trunk.
When we got home and I ripped open the first bag to start mulching and I had to pause for a moment. Every bag was full of magnolia leaves. I thought right away about how the Magnolia tree is the state tree of Mississippi. A state I've only lived in for a handful of months but has become home to me and my family.
It felt like a little sign from God that He's got me, He has a plan for me here in my new home state of Mississippi, and He's in ALL the details ๐Ÿ’›

Yesterday I planted my first perennial garden space here in Mississippi ๐ŸŒผ

I keep thinking about how thereโ€™s something special and meaningful about planting perennials. Youโ€™re putting down roots that will stay and planting flowers that will grow and flourish in years to come. It signifies to me that this is my home, the place Iโ€™m also putting down roots.

While moving has been hard in ways, Iโ€™m so incredibly thankful to be here in Hernando. This New York raised girl would never ever have guessed sheโ€™d be living in Mississippi but God knew what He was doing and I love living here.

Salvia, baptisia, Veronica, sedum, David phlox, and so many other beauties were plantedโ€”some alley for personal enjoyment and many are great varieties for cut flowers.

I canโ€™t wait to see them grow and thrive here in Hernando ๐Ÿ’›

Statice is coming along nicely ๐ŸŒฑ This is my first year growing this flower which looks beautiful in fresh bouquets or can used as a dried flower ๐Ÿ’

I have apricot, blue, and a mix called rose shades growing in the field. I love their funky shaped leaves!
