This is a very large raised bed that a friend made for me. This whole season I have been putting the scraps and the flowers that didn't sell into this bed. Organic matter is the best thing that you can have in your garden beds. Don't put anything in that you know has a fungus or disease. Next year, this will be full of mint. Mint is invasive. It will spread everywhere. I always suggest planting mint in a container.

We almost have 200 ft of new raised garden beds built. The tulips will go into these beds this year. You have to rotate where you plant your tulip bulbs to prevent disease. The railroad ties actually came from a railroad so they have been sprayed with chemicals. To prevent the chemicals from leaching into my soil, I am covering them with 6 mil plastic.

Fall is here and that means there is a lot of work to be done. This past Saturday my husband built me multiple new garden beds. This is going to be a perennial bed. Before we get too cold, several things will need to be done to this new bed.

*The grass has got to go.

*I will need to fill this with a mix of soil and compost and mulch on top.

*I will go ahead and plant multiple perennial plants in here and spread seed that needs to cold stratification.
