This summer has been extra busy for our family. Avery is taking two horses to the fair this year and has even started trick riding, so our evenings and weekends have been more than filled.

Because of that, we've been keeping AveryCakes mostly to custom orders while we focus on family and fair season.

Today, Avery decided she wanted to spend some time in the kitchen and try her hand at muffins. These are her Banana Blueberry Muffins. We think she did a pretty amazing job for her first batch!

There’s something special about family recipes.

Some are written on fancy cards, some on scrap paper, and some are so well-loved they’re stained, faded, and barely hanging on—but every one of them holds a story. These are the recipes I reach for again and again, whether I’m baking for my family at home or creating treats in the bakery.

I love knowing that the same ingredients and instructions have been shared across generations, bringing people together around the table. There’s just something about baking from a family recipe that makes it taste a little sweeter. ❤️
