You could spend A LOT of time exploring Cracker Jax Dekalb!

This place is absolutely packed with things to discover. From vintage and new jewelry to clothing, gemstones, candles, incense, unique gifts, books, décor and so much more, it feels like there's something different around every corner.

And make sure you find the $4 room 👀 Everything inside is just $4, and it's definitely worth digging through to see what treasures you can find.

One of our favorite areas is the soap selection. There are so many wonderful scents to choose from, and honestly, the whole store is just such a pleasant place to wander around and explore.

Cracker Jax has been a part of Downtown DeKalb since 1984, and shops like this are exactly why we love highlighting local businesses.

🔥 BBQ, incredible people, and a little local art in Hinckley!

We stopped into South Moon BBQ and there was a lot to love! The ribs were smoked wonderfully and were tender, flavorful, and finished with just a light mop of sauce that let the meat and smoke do the talking.

The pulled chicken sandwich was fantastic, and we really enjoyed their unique takes on the classic BBQ sides. Definitely not your standard sides, and that made them even more fun to try!

But the biggest shoutout of the day has to go to our server, Taylor. ❤️ She was genuinely one of the kindest, most welcoming servers we've had. Great food can make a meal, but people like Taylor are what make you remember a place and want to come back.

And while you're in Hinckley, make sure you take a moment to check out the jaw-dropping downtown mosaic mural designed by Illinois artist Danielle Casali Studio Danielle's incredible mosaic work can be found throughout northern Illinois, and her Hinckley mural beautifully brings pieces of the town's farming history together. My son and I actually helped her on her DeKalb Illinois project.

Good BBQ, great people, and some incredible local art. Hinckley gave us plenty to enjoy!

What small businesses, local shops, restaurants, music stores or hidden gems deserve a little more love?

JC's Junction Corner is now in contention for the BEST SMASH BURGER around. No wonder they have won Ogle County's vote for best burger 6 years running! Speaking of which, it's voting time again so make sure you cast your vote if you think this is the best in the county. Couldn't have been happier with the service and food. We loved this quant little restaurant, get out and try it soon!

As we got out of the car in the parking lot of Riga-Tony's, a wonderful smell caught us. We looked around and saw a sign for Lake Geneva Cannery and what we found inside was what dreams are made of. This was such a unique and pleasant surprise to stumble upon. It was full of the best smelling candles with such unique designs. Canned and preserved fruits, delicious licking pies and a whole host of other canned foods and items. Next time we are in the area we are stopping back and loading up on some goodies from here!

Riga-Tony's Delicatezzi Italiano You have our heart 😂 The food, the desserts, the selection, the EVERYTHING. This is a one stop shop for all your needs including homemade bread, pastas and even a meat counter! What's not to love about this wonderful spot? This immediately became a family favorite!

Alex told me that she bought a "Birkin" today. Not going to lie, I was sweating a little bit 😂 Not certain we could float a $30,000+ purse.

When it comes to Alex's plant babies we are always going to Blumen Gardens. She takes them in to get repotted, treated for any pests and a multitude of other services to help them keep happy and thriving. Huge shout-out to Harper and the team for always knocking it out of the park. Al spends so much time and energy on her plants, it's a trait of hers I truly admire. She got me a ZZ and some succulents and I managed to almost end them both before she swooped in to rescue them!

We couldn't have asked for a better way to end a sweltering day than Ollie's Frozen Custard of Sycamore! This has always been one of the best spots in the area for a scoop of custard. We hosted a 3 day garage sale and then went to see the car show hosted by Turning Back Time Car Club. What a rewarding and equally tiring week. It has been hectic and we are sorry about the lack of videos the last few days!

Also, quick shout out to Elle’s cafe for always making me laugh!
