It specializes in reining and USEF and AQHA hunters. Roper Farms was established in 1959. Jarvis and Nancy Roper were instrumental in bringing the American Quarter Horse to Northwest Indiana. Jarvis stood a stallion named Streaks Fleck for almost a decade. Nancy followed in the footsteps of her mother-in-law, Blanch Roper, who also was an avid equestrian. Nancy’s passion was hunter jumpers. In 196
2, Tim got his start on his first western pleasure horse named Cricket Adank. Tim and Linda were married in the early 1980’s and had three children Samantha, Alison, and Indy. After being strongly encouraged by Linda, Tim gave up his passion of raising and training Labrador Retrievers to allow the girls to pursue showing American Quarter horses. Tim and Linda purchased Sam’s first show horse in 1992 and went on to earn Sam’s first All American Quarter Horse Congress Championship in 1996 with Pris Miss Tookie in 11 & Under Horsemanship. Amongst the three girls, they have gone on to win numerous Congress and World championships, 2020 NRHA Derby champion, and 2020 NRBC Derby champion. For the Roper’s, horses are more than a hobby but a lifestyle. The barn is busier than ever with the fifth generation of riders.
