Sweet potato pancakes made with oats, whole wheat flour, and spices. Yummy plain or topped with applesauce or maple syrup. Make a batch, freeze them, and take then out as needed!
The classes are a great way to learn what and how to feed your babies seasonal ingredients and start them on a healthy eating regimen.
Feeding your little one can be challenging. Do we start with cereals, what purees, or do we let them learn to feed themselves? Or maybe all of the above. If you want to learn how to make food to feed your baby at any stage from first foods to toddler meals, I will teach you quick, nutritious, tasty and affordable meals. Weekly delivery in Hoboken is also available. For more information, contact me at [email protected].

Meatballs- 100% grass-fed local beef, organic homemade ricotta, egg yolk, organic oats, grated onion, minced garlic and parsley! Tasty and healthy for big and little kids!
Looking for a nutrient packed ingredient to add to your purées? Try chickpeas (AKA garbanzo beans). They add great texture, are mild in flavor so they can be added to
veggies and fruit, and are packed with protein, zinc, folate, and iron. Talk with your pediatrician first, but chickpeas may be introduced between 6-8 months.
Yogurt is a great ingredient to give to your little foodie. Choose a whole fat yogurt as they need the fat for proper growth. It's best to buy the plain and mix in your own fruits and veggies. If you buy a pre-mixed brand, watch the sugar. 4 grams of sugar is equivalent to 1 teaspoon of sugar.
Some if our favorite combinations:
Banana and avocado
Apple and cinnamon
Blend with fruit and greens and thinned with water or unfiltered apple juice for a sippy cup "smoothie"
Carrots and peaches or apricot
Breakfast smoothie
Chicken, parsnip and apricot is the new house favorite!
Happy 2014. I hope everyone had a great holiday and enjoyed time with family and friends.
We are getting back in the swing of things. Orders will be filled beginning the end of next week. Keep in mind we are here for you and do weekly, bi-weekly and monthly orders. The purées are perfect for beginners to food connoisseurs!
One-on-one and group classes will begin in February. The classes are a casual but informative way to learn what and how to feed your little foodie. Get your girlfriends together and spend and hour or so chatting and learning - the best part is you go home with a weeks worth of purées.
Message me or email me at [email protected] for more information, to book a class or order your purées.
Just finished the last big batch of purées. We are officially closed for the holidays. Now on to baking snicker doodles, ginger molasses cookies and raspberry crumb bars!
Is your little foodie tired of plain ol' steamed sweet potato? Try roasting and adding cinnamon. Roasting brings out the natural sugars of the sweet potato and cinnamon has many health benefits and when added to food it acts as a natural preservative because it has anti-bacterial properties.
How do you start your morning? Coffee? We start our morning with a fresh prune purée. Soak a handful of prunes in hot water for 15-20 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon to a blender. Purée adding about 1/4 cup of the soaking liquid to get a smooth consistency. This method also works with other dried fruit like apricots.
Looking to add protein, omega-3, and vitamins A, C, E, K, B6 and potassium? Add the wonder fruit avocado to banana and steamed apple. Nutritious and naturally sweet - your little foodie will gobble it up!
Looking for the perfect gift for your Mommy friends? Why not give the gift of purées? I'm offering nine 4 ounce combination purées for $45 or nine 4 ounce simple purées for $35. Order one for a friend and receive one for you half off! All purées are seasonal organic fruits and produce from local NY/NJ farms. Purée examples: butternut squash, roasted apple and cinnamon, roasted banana blueberry and oatmeal, or chicken with carrot and apple. The pouches are great if you are traveling over the holidays, feeding on the go, or for feeding while at daycare.

Looking to add protein to your little foodies diet? This recipe is suited for 6-9 month foodies. As always, check with your doctor.
This recipe will also work with leftover turkey!
Saute 1/2 small onion, chopped with one large peeled and cut carrot and one apple, cored, peeled and chopped in a pot with about 1/2 tablespoon of good quality extra-virgin olive oil. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Pour 8 oz of unsalted organic chicken stock (feel use turkey stock), bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer for 8-10 minutes. Add 1 boneless skinless organic chicken breast cut into pieces and cook until the chicken is cooked through, about 10 minutes. If using leftover turkey, add and just cook until warmed through, 3-5 minutes. Puree. Makes about 5 servings.
Feel free to change up the flavor by adding a bay leaf (remove before pureeing), thyme or rosemary.
Bon Appetite!!
This is the question I get asked most: What are binding and non-binding foods?
Foods to help babies with diarrhea:
Banana, rice or rice cereal, applesauce, white potato, carrots, and plain yogurt
Foods to avoid giving babies with diarrhea:
Plums, spinach, peaches, mangoes, prunes, peas, pears, apricots, oats, any dairy (yogurt is ok because of the probiotic)
As always, consult your pediatrician if you have any questions.

Watching Mommy steam, roast and purée and being her official taste tester is exhausting work.
Did you go apple picking and want a recipe for your kiddo? How about roasted apples and cinnamon (good for babies who have tried simple purees @ 6-8 months)
4 large apples, halved and cored ( think sweet apples like Rome, Gala, Empire, Red Delicious, Pink Lady)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (if you have not rotated your spices, now is the time to go out and buy a new)
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Arrange the apples, cut-side down, on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Roast the apples until fork tender, 20-25 minutes.
Immediately transfer the apples to the blender, remember hot foods puree best. Add the cinnamon and pulse until smooth. Cool to room temperature before serving or cool completely and freeze in individual containers.
Want to learn more combos? Banana, Mango and Avocado? Or Parnsip and Pear? What about Spinach, Banana and Avocado? Or how about Green Bean, Potato and Kale? Combo Puree classes will be announced this weekend! Or email me to book your own private class or girl's night in class! [email protected]

Why is it important to give your baby fresh baby food?
Taste for your self and compare freshly mashed carrots to a jar of carrot baby food from your local grocery store. Even though they are the same food, they don’t look, smell or taste the same. Yes it is true, your baby does not have the same palate you do, but he/she does respond to taste, color, and smell. Beyond that, what I think is even more important is the fact that processed baby foods have added water, sugars, preservatives, and starchy fillers. Processed baby foods are also cooked at high temperatures to kill bacteria, but bacteria is not the only thing eliminated in this process; vitamins and nutrients are also destroyed. Why feed your little one foods that have been on a shelf for months, when you can learn how to make baby food or have it delivered fresh by me!
Freshly picked local organic apples are going to be steamed and Puréed for Wednesday nights class!
Adding classes for the end of October through November using Eventbrite.com! Stay tuned!
