Eskimo Joe and Zeva the dog showing they love each.
Adding a little background on this baby. He was orphaned. Mary was called to pick him up because the mare died. The owner could not care for him. He is 4 months old. We don't know if the stud was a mini jack or a standard size. He arrived with frost bite on his ears and full of worms. He is fed a bottle, eats some foal feed, and just learned how to drink water from a bucket. His ribs were prominent under all that fluff. He appears to be stable but is not up for adoption at this time. He eats with "Chevy" who is his non-human teaching him what he needs to do as a member of the equine family. And now Zeva is visiting. We have received lots and lots of offers to adopt. We have to make sure that he is going to survive and he will need to go back to the vet for another check up. We don't adopt out studs so when he is old enough he will be gelded. A decision will be made at some time in the future. We may ttry to pair him with some other donkeys to learn how to be a donkey too
*** Update on the storm. The farm and animals are ok. We made it through the storm and the Tornado didn't hit us. Thank you! ***Prayers for the farm and for Mary. This storm has rotation in 2 places and almost directly in the middle sits the farm
Good Morning,Such a peaceful time of the day.Thank You Lord for this Day,I hope everyone has a wonderful day,Mary
So Shadow has a new name, Eskimo Joe, Joe's finger used to be white because it was always cold, So I think his name suits him. Because his ears and nose is frost bitten, Joe would like it.
The Baby has a blanket now when it gets cold again,Just getting him used to it, Needless to say it tried to eat him,lol Mary
Shadow is trusting a little more Today and I got him to take 120 ml. Of milk
It's time for a funny!!!?? Did everyone see a ring around the moon last night well I did and My Husband said,It was from the fumes from my Broom ,He really does Love me, He has always made me Laugh,I guess that's why we have been together for so long. Thanks Mary
Look at Smoke he is looking so much better than when I got him
We think Shadow has been through a lot in his little life. He deserves a more fitting name. something cute and maybe something that we can use that will go well with a middle name of Joe.
Help us name him.
Please please give Mary a rest on the messages, calls and texts. Let’s keep the contact down to daylight hours
Mary is very tired and putting out all her energy in the needs of the emergency care of the newest rescues.
The Facebook messages at 4 am and late nights is too much. Thank you, Penny
**** Update Shadow was given fluids, and he is loaded with worms. Mary is on her way back to the farm now*** Look who is being a good boy at the vet. Shadow is getting checked out. It was frost bite on his ears. Checking sample for worms. Lungs are good. a little dehydrated which we expected due to losing his Mom and we don’t have a lot of history beyond yesterday and today. Will update more later.
Shadow is on his way to the vet. Mary has concerns about his lungs and he needs blood drawn. Even though he is eating well, they can go down hill quick at this age. Please keep this cute little baby in your prayers. The vet bill was $155.75 today for his vet care. If you would like to help it would be appreciated.
