Orpah and baby doing great, and Orpah had breakfast in her stall this morning for a little pampering. Everyone meet Opal. She is 75% PB Nubian and 25% PB La Mancha, but those genes for short ears are strong. I look for her to be a great milker. Her lines are from our first La Mancha back in 2011, and her dam is second generation to our farm. Her sisters from last year just had 4th generation babies, 3 out of 4 have the Nubian ears.

Back into goat farming in full swing. Babies were disbudded yesterday, 14 cuties running everywhere, and one more to go. I milked two mamas this morning for over 5 quarts (not counting what spilled when the milk machine toppled over). You know what's next- fresh cheese!

Update, Tank has found a new pasture with many friends. He is very happy, but his friends are a lot bigger than him.

Our Zebu bull is lonely since we lost his mate, so we are looking to rehome him. He is 4 years old, no papers. Please share if you know of anyone interested. Pm for more information.

It's been years since we've had a good crop of blue berries from our ancient bushes. After a heavy pruning the last two years, and then some busy Spring neglect and a late freeze I wasn't at all hopeful, but, we were able to pick about a half gallon tonight, and there are a ton of green ones. Yay!

We have some new mamas to help us with milk while we wait for fall kidding. Blossom comes with a flashy buck kid, and Music with her sweet doeling. We have to put some weight on Music, but she's a sweet girl with great potential.

This morning Snowdrop surprised me with a single huge doeling. Shown here are her dam, Violet, Violet's current doeling, Snowdrop and the new baby. Can you see the family resemblance?
All of these does have a beautifully attached udder, and are easy to keep. Violet is available 4 months fresh, as we have 2 of her adult daughters as well as her dam.
