🌿🐝 Beeatrice’s Bluff Harvest Skillet 🐝🌿

“The best meals don’t start with a recipe…they start with a walk through the garden.” 💚

Tonight’s dinner came together from whatever was ready to harvest.

✨ In tonight’s skillet:
🍄 Assorted mushrooms, browned in bacon fat
🥩 Ground beef
🎃 Fresh pattypan squash
🫛 Sugar snap peas
🥬 Kohlrabi leaves
🌿 Fresh parsley
🧄 Garlic
🍚 Cooked rice
🥢 Soy sauce
🍶 Rice wine vinegar
🐔 Chicken bouillon powder

Directions

🥓 Cook a few slices of bacon and set them aside for another meal (or snack on them while you cook 😉). Leave the bacon fat in the pan.

🍄 Add the mushrooms and let them cook undisturbed until they’re deeply golden. This is where the magic happens!

🥩 Brown the ground beef and season lightly with black pepper.

🧄 Add the garlic, then stir in the diced pattypan squash, sugar snap peas, and chopped kohlrabi leaves. Cook until the squash is just tender and the greens have wilted.

🍚 Add the cooked rice and season with soy sauce, chicken bouillon powder, and a splash of rice wine vinegar. Toss everything together until hot.

🌿 Finish with a generous handful of fresh parsley.

🍳 Optional (but highly recommended!): Top each bowl with a fried egg. When that runny yolk mixes into the rice…it’s pure comfort.

💛 This wasn’t a planned recipe. It was simply today’s harvest, cooked together with a little creativity. Those are often the meals that become family favorites.

🐝 Beeatrice’s Tip: Don’t overlook your kohlrabi leaves—they’re every bit as delicious as the bulb! Treat them like spinach or kale, and they’ll add wonderful flavor and nutrition to your meals.

Can I let you in on one of the easiest ways to help the bees today?

Put out a shallow dish of water with a few pebbles or marbles in it.

Bees get thirsty just like we do, especially during these hot summer days. The rocks give them a safe place to land while they take a drink instead of risking drowning. It’s one of the simplest things you can do for your local pollinators. (GrowJoy⁠)

Around here, the girls are already busy working the flowers while I’m wandering through the garden pretending I’m in charge. (They know who’s really running the place. 😉)
