This has been on my mind alot lately as lots of new folks are looking for goats. This is a shared post with a sister herd as I feel we are both on the same page with this!!!
To the new goat enthusiast!!!
Every year I get a few folks who inquire about a goat and proceed to buy elsewhere and that's fine. There are lots of things that could be involved in that choice. I do not have a problem helping others. I have people that have helped me for a long time. But please make sure that when you purchase a goat you do the research. You ask the questions and make sure that you purchase a goat from someone who is willing to help support you with that goat long-term. Whether you buy an inexpensive goat or a high-priced goat, please feel out the seller before spending your money.
Buying a goat shouldn’t feel like a handshake and a disappearing act. These are living, breathing animals, not porch pickups. Questions will come up. Sometimes at 2 pm… sometimes at 2 am…
We believe mentorship and ongoing support are part of responsible breeding 110%
If a breeder isn’t willing to answer questions, offer guidance, or stand behind the animals they produce, it’s worth pausing and asking if that’s truly the right place to invest your trust, your money, and the wellbeing of your future herd.
Our goal has never been just to sell goats. It’s to set both the animals and their people up for long-term success.
Here’s to healthy goats, confident owners, and fewer late-night Google searches that end in panic!
