The Education piece here is important. Rodeos have been a long practice of tradition and education.

𝗔 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗧𝗲𝗷𝗮𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆

Our mission has always been to keep Texas traditions and Western heritage alive through rodeo, education, and authentic experiences that immerse guests in the history, values, and spirit of the American West.

Recently, Viator/Tripadvisor adopted a new animal welfare policy that prohibits the sale of tickets for rodeos, resulting in the removal of all rodeos from its platform, including our Saturday Night Rodeo at Tejas Rodeo Company.

While we respectfully disagree with the removal of rodeos from Viator's platform, our greatest concern extends beyond this decision. Viator has publicly stated its intention to lead the travel industry on this issue, raising concerns that other online travel agencies could follow suit. If that happens, it could become more difficult for travelers from around the world to discover and experience one of America's most authentic cultural traditions.

Rodeo is far more than entertainment. It is the Official State Sport of Texas and a living expression of the values that define the American West, including hard work, stewardship, respect for the land and livestock, and a deep sense of community. For generations, it has connected families to the traditions and way of life that continue to shape Texas today.

That is why the timing of this decision is especially significant. As our nation celebrates America's 250th anniversary, rodeo is being honored on one of our country's most prominent stages. The official America 250 celebration on the National Mall features a rodeo as part of its programming, recognizing the cowboy as a symbol of the American spirit and honoring the men and women whose grit, determination, and resilience helped shape the American West. As the America 250 organizers said, "The story of the cowboy is the story of America." We couldn't agree more.

We hope the travel industry will recognize the important role rodeo plays in preserving and sharing America's story.

We remain committed to the highest standards of animal care and to preserving the traditions that make Texas and America unique. We believe rodeo is more than an event. It is a living part of our history, our heritage, and our identity that deserves to be celebrated and shared.
