We have had a couple weeks of scorching heat. Best layers in the heat award this year go to the Ogye. They have actually picked up the pace. Araucana come in second this year. Just a steady pace all summer. The Indio and Owlbeard completely shut down. Actually from the looks of the coops they also have some molting going on. Tomorrow it cools down about 20 degrees. Will be nice.

Clean out ingredients. After the sand is all out each coop gets saturated with permethrin. Once that dries all nesting areas are sprayed with Fraxel. Fraxel is the same as electoral PSP but cheaper. Same active ingredients. I use the rescue to sanatize a coop if I suspect coccidiosis in the brooder area. No need for that at this time. Tonight all the birds will also get sprayed with Fraxel. Mites seem a little worse this year. I’ll spray their vents and under the wings to knock down the mite population. I will then spray them again in about 2 weeks. These containers of concentrates last a long time, so well worth the investment.
