It's official now! After a long, hot summer that never seemed to end here in Hot Springs, Arkansas, the deer roaming through the neighborhood completely ignored my Lemon Verbena. YAY!!! They were looking for anything green in the midst of dry, brown vegetation, after weeks without rain. But they did not touch the lush, green Lemon Verbena! What an exciting discovery!

I'm still celebrating my experiment with Lemon Verbena, growing it where deer hunt for juicy green leaves in the heat of summer, yet those deer are choosing to avoid the stiff Lemon Verbena leaves. YAY!!! They are leaving the Lemon Verbena for me! Enjoy this link explaining the difference between Verbena (a flower) and Lemon Verbena (a leafy bush). Many people confuse the two plants.
Lemon Verbena Love never dies! Here's the first potted plant growing in our Arkansas location now. I am going to experiment with growing it in the ground all year, meaning overwintering the roots for fresh growth each year.

2018 and 2019 -
My love affair with Lemon Verbena began 7 years ago with two plants ordered online. I had no idea how they would change my life.
When you visit www.Lemon-Verbena-Living.com you’ll see our adventures growing Lemon Verbena in pots and in the ground. It’s perfect for both. And most of all, you’ll learn what you need to know, grow, use and love Lemon Verbena, too.
I love herbs and my husband loves his tractor. We combined our passions and began growing Lemon Verbena in the field in 2016. It was a trial plot, but proved to be quite successful.
Now it’s Spring of 2019 and we are more than doubling the number of plants in our fields.
Turns out, Lemon Verbena loves our sandy soil and intense Texas heat. Yes, we irrigate. It’s crucial because the root system is quite shallow. Potted plants need some shade during the hot afternoons, but field-grown plants require full sun for optimum leaf production.
(I’m starting to sound like a commercial grower...)
We have a distributor for our Texas-Grown Lemon Verbena, so we expect them to purchase our entire crop again this year. Contact The Cultured Cup in Farmers Branch, Texas.
Follow our page, LemonVerbenaLiving, to keep in touch with everything Lemon Verbena. But most of all, buy some Lemon Verbena tea and try it for yourself. To taste it is to love it!
