THE FOUNDER

Jackie Campos, La Bamba's founder, is a 35-year-old wife and mom of 2 children that reside in Mexico City. Mexico City is one of the biggest cities in the world with a population of over 23 million people, and of course, a wide range of museums, restaurants, and beaches. Jackie has always been passionate and proud of her nation––the biodiversity, culture, gastronomy, infrastructure, and design––so she knew her purpose was to share her passion to the world to allow people from other nations to learn more about Mexico and fall in love with the culture. The only job she had was to figure out how she was going to spread for her country.

After visiting and living in a handful of countries, she finally found a passion for fashion design. She was fascinated with the amount of influence a simple design can generate in society and world––that's when the idea of creating a handbag company to represent her country sparked. She wanted to represent her beautiful country with the design of colorful, recycled handbags made by artisans, and make a positive impact on the environment.

"I started La Bamba 3 years ago after visiting a small, rural community in the mounts of Oaxaca and meeting with several local artists that were already producing art for the local communities. I wanted to create something lasting, unique and colorful––something that would not only conserve the environment but would be used daily by environmentally conscious individuals. That's when I share my vision and passion for my country, fashion, and the environment, and created La Bamba.

I would like to continue to share my passion for design to the world and continue supporting local communities in need and our beautiful environment."
