What Is Wholesale Water and Wastewater Treatment? 💧

What if your community could secure water and wastewater treatment capacity without owning the treatment plant?

That's the idea behind wholesale water and wastewater treatment.

Instead of owning, operating, and maintaining the infrastructure, communities receive reliable treatment capacity as a service, giving them more flexibility as they grow.

Keeping a project on schedule sometimes means finding a way to bridge the gap. ⏳

In this case, a temporary bypass plant gave our customer the confidence to maintain treatment capacity while a permanent solution was being installed.

Water Treatment Plant Costs for Master-Planned Communities 💧

When budgeting for water and wastewater infrastructure, many developers focus on one number: the cost of the treatment plant.

But that's only part of the picture.

Project timing, utility availability, phasing, financing, and long-term operations all affect what a master-planned community ultimately spends.

The right infrastructure strategy is one that puts the right capacity in place at the right time.

🎳 AUC Group Family Bowling Night

Sharing highlights from our annual AUC Group Family Bowling Night!

The turnout was incredible, and the night had a little bit of everything: raffle prizes, good food, and plenty of strikes (a few gutter balls too).

Beyond the fun, it meant a lot to see so many of our families out of the office and together, celebrating as one team. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the night one to remember.

MYTH 🚫
The treatment plant is the biggest infrastructure cost.

REALITY ✅
Timing, utility extensions, permitting, and phasing often have just as much impact on the overall project budget.

What's the biggest misconception you hear about water or wastewater infrastructure? 💬

Are Package Wastewater Plants Only Temporary? Not Anymore 🚰

Many developers still think package wastewater treatment plants are only temporary.

That was true decades ago. It isn't necessarily true today.

Modern package plants are designed to scale, meet stringent regulatory requirements, and support long-term growth. Instead of waiting years for centralized capacity, or overbuilding infrastructure too early, communities can add treatment capacity as development progresses.

For many projects, a package plant isn't just a stopgap. It's a long-term infrastructure strategy.

Every treatment plant starts with an empty site. 🏗️

Behind every completed neighborhood is months of planning, permitting, design, and construction that most people never see.

Reliable infrastructure isn't always visible, but it's what allows communities to keep growing.

The answer to yesterday's question is... D. It depends on the project. ✅

While the treatment plant is often the focus, project costs are just as likely to be driven by utility extensions, timing, permitting, and phasing decisions. That's exactly why we believe infrastructure planning should start long before construction begins.

Wholesale Water & Wastewater Treatment 🔧

Owning a water or wastewater treatment plant isn't the only way to get treatment capacity. More communities are looking at wholesale delivery models that provide reliable treatment without the responsibility of owning, operating, and maintaining the infrastructure.

It isn't the right fit for every project, but it's an option more developers and municipalities are starting to explore.

AUC delivers wholesale water and wastewater solutions that reduce upfront capital requirements while simplifying delivery, operations, and compliance.
