I was looking thru farm pics for the cover photo contest I shared and I came across this one. It was a picture my son took after our 1st nanny goat had triplets on our farm. We were gone over the road and my son went outside and saw that she had given birth unassisted. She did great but we believe she was over bred before we had her and had a blown out teet and she unfortunately couldn't nurse the babies. He intervened and fed around the clock. Animals are full of surprises and you have to be ready to act when things arise.

Moving to the country and a new area was definitely worth it and we have learned so much about homesteading and raising our own food. We have goals for the future and I can't wait to watch the farm grow.

Many animals have been born or hatched here since Mocha. We started with chickens and now 3 years later have a wide variety of livestock here on our farm.

Temps in South East Texas today was a normal 🔥 hot day with temps of 110°F.
@ 4:38pm then dropped down to 72 ° about 6pm when the storm came through our area
@ 10:12 pm it is back up to 79°

It has been a extremely long dry season this summer with drought and no rain for a record number of days

We had a 15% chance of rain today and out of nowhere it started 🌧 raining and hailing for about 5 minutes with crazy winds and then just stopped. You couldn't even see in front of you and it came on suddenly. Then about 30 minutes later it started up again and we got the much needed rain without the intense winds but there was definitely bowling going on upstairs.

Our family, farm, and animals are all ok, and our canopy was the only thing that was destroyed from the heavy winds. There was trees down nearby that took out power for some in our area but we didn't lose power. Grateful that it wasn't worse.

There are multiple wildfires currently burning across Texas- including Jasper and also nearby in Louisiana with thousands of acres being burned the last few days and my heart goes out to them.

Say a prayer for those affected by the fires and for all the fire fighters battling the fires.

I find surprise eggs all the time from broody hens who have found a new hiding spot but NEVER one with writing. ✍️

This reminds me of those letters in a bottle but way cooler 😎

This is such an EGGcredible story and they even found the person who wrote on the egg all those years ago!!
