Baby chick update!

So the other day when it was -400 degrees (not really but it felt like it) Scoots was unresponsive and not moving. The other two chicks were just fine running around and eating. So I spent almost an hour nursing baby scoots back to health and holding her under the heat lamp.

She finally started to perk up and walk on her own. I watched her till she drank on her own and then I went in the house. It was way past my kids bedtime so I had to call it a night.

Thankfully I got the heat just right for the little chick and they are all happy and healthy. Silkies are so sensitive and high maintenance lol. I love my little chicks. Our first chicks to hatch since my surgery. šŸ’› we got two Easter Eggers and one Silkie. Iā€™m so lucky to get these two Easter eggers because when I was down after my surgery my Egger rooster got killed. Along with half of my flock šŸ’”šŸ’” but Iā€™m doing a lot better and hopefully can get my chickens happy and healthy again. I believe it was an opossum that killed the chickens. And a few chickens jumped the fence into the dog yard and met their doom. Chickens arenā€™t very smart animals. šŸ„“ Anyways, keep watching or more updates on these chicks. Baby Scoots (the black silkie) made a turn for the worst yesterday šŸ˜³

Sorry you havenā€™t heard from me in a while. I have been dealing with health issues but Iā€™m on the mend and almost ready to get back out there with my chickens. Iā€™ve lost a few chickens and my roosters to a raccoon while I was down so I wonā€™t be selling chicks or eggs till probably this spring. But when we are back up and running I will let you know! šŸ’›
