Sunday chores…putting these kids to work! Being outside and working together allows us to lead by example and teach our kids the value of hard work…something I repeat often to my children who are still learning is, in the words of the late Hunter Thompson, that “if something is worth doing it’s worth doing right”. Well, I’m on a quick 24 hour trip to the coast with my good buddy and Local Pastures business partner Aubrey from Belle Vie Farm and Kitchen . We both love to fish and figured out a way to sneak off for a day down to Corpus Christi Bay. I’m on the boat as I type this :)

We are super busy on the farm right now- just got a solid 1.5” rain the other day and the summer grasses we have planted are coming up! I need to get back in the tractor when I get back home and get planting finished up.

Getting off the farm isn’t easy but you just have to do it…even if it’s only for a day at a time. I mean, what the hell are we doing all this for if we can’t have a little fun once in a while! After all we ain’t getting out of here alive!

We had a great time at our Local Pastures North Lamar store feeding random people steak!

I especially love when first timers try our beef and experience the rich flavor profile that comes from truly grass finished beef :)
