Houston, we have a problem……and it’s that Team Cranky Britches Cook Team has somehow never made the podium at the NASA JSC Gilruth Center chili cookoff. Frankly, it’s becoming our personal Apollo 13.
But tomorrow? We’re strapping in, lighting the burners, and attempting re-entry with what can only be described as aggressively handcrafted Texas chili.
All week long, we’ve been in the lab (kitchen), running simulations (tasting), and handling highly volatile materials (Guajillo, Árbol, and Chipotle peppers). No store-bought chili powder here, because apparently we enjoy doing things the hardest way possible. This is less “cooking” and more “a multi-day scientific experiment with snacks.”
This event is our white whale. Our final frontier. Our chili moon landing. There will be ~60 teams competing, all hoping to bring home hardware. We want to be one of them.
Mission Payload Includes:
* Our award-winning Powerhouse Texas Chili (may achieve escape velocity)
* Cold beers from Galveston Bay Brewing 🍺
* Tequila Corrido (for… morale purposes) 🥃
Launch Window: Gates open at 11Location: Gilruth Center, NASA JSC
Come out, support the mission, and help us finally break orbit and land on the podium. Or at the very least, watch us dramatically over-engineer chili for several hours.
