Today was the first time since being diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome a few months ago that I was able to work one of my businesses, Kiki’s Cakes & Catering. 💕
For those who may not know, Guillain-Barré Syndrome is a rare condition where the body’s immune system attacks the nervous system. For me, it has caused an incredible amount of pain, extreme fatigue, weakness, and issues with walking. I have not had feeling in my feet and lower legs since around September 2025, and some days have honestly been harder than I can even explain.
But today… I pushed myself.
Now I’ll admit — I probably pushed myself WAY too far trying to accomplish this goal 😂 — but I’m still glad I did it. Anyone who truly knows me knows it’s hard for me to sit still. I’ve never been the type to give 98%. I give 100% in everything I do.
Even with this new chronic illness, I have to continue finding things that remind me of the Jocelyn Williams I know. The woman who loves excellence, pays attention to detail, and keeps going no matter what.
BIG thank you to my mom, Frances Williams, who has been here in Houston helping take care of me since December of last year and who came out today to help me through this event. Thank you also to Brian and my brother for showing up and helping me get it done.
Although I had to do the majority of this work sitting down, I’m thankful I was still able to accomplish the assignment and feel just a little bit like my old self again.
I always say, “If you don’t use it, you lose it.” And with everything going on in my body right now, I refuse to lose my passion, my drive, my creativity, my attention to detail, or my determination to keep pushing forward.
The fatigue is definitely real.
The pain can be debilitating.
But this will not beat me.
Every single day I wake up, I’m going to fight through it the best way I know how. ❤️
