Colorado, you surprised everyone. 🍷🏔️

Saturday night we poured six wines from America's highest wine country and shared the stories behind them, the mile-high vineyards, the ancient marine soils, and the growers who earn every vintage. Thank you to everyone who came and tasted the story with us. It was a night to remember.

The wine isn't the whole story. It's the last chapter. 🍇

In Colorado's Grand Valley, growers plant a mile above sea level, in soil that was once an ancient sea, and farm some of the most unforgiving conditions in American wine: frost, hail, a season that ends fast. They do it by hand. They do it on purpose. And you can taste every bit of that in the glass.

At this month's tasting I'm pouring three that carry it: High Country Cellars Chardonnay, Balistreri Vineyards Merlot, and Talon Winery Cabernet Sauvignon, with the places and people behind each one.

Past the Rockies, in the Grand Valley, vines grow between 4,000 and 7,000 feet, in ancient marine soil, under 300+ days of sun, through frost, hail, and a growing season so short every vintage is genuinely earned. High altitude slows the ripening, so the wines keep this remarkable freshness you don't find just anywhere.

Oregon wine isn’t just Pinot Noir. It’s place, soil, wind, elevation—and the people behind every bottle.

For the Pour Across America collection, I’m not looking for mass-produced wines or familiar supermarket labels. I’m skipping A to Z and going smaller: boutique wineries, thoughtful farming, limited production, and wines made with care and intention.
