While we were in Nashville last month, we stumbled upon an absolute gemāEdessaāserving up Turkish and Kurdish cuisine, both completely new to me. I first spotted it in the Nashville visitors guide and couldnāt stop thinking about it⦠and Iām really glad we followed through š
Mrs. Food kicked things off with an appetizerāpretty sure it was the gozleme, a warm, flaky flatbread stuffed with spinach and cheese and served with a dipping sauce. š«š§ It was fantasticācrispy on the outside, savory on the inside. I showed some restraint and only had one piece so I wouldnāt ruin my appetite⦠but the leftovers came back to the hotel with us and made for some excellent late-night (and next-day) snacking š
For my entrĆ©e, I went with the āTurkish Delightā (not the candy!)āa smooth, flavorful blend of chickpeas, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, beets, and white pepper, topped with roasted vegetables. š„⨠This dish was incredible. Light, fresh, and super satisfying without leaving me stuffed. Definitely one of those meals where you feel good after eating it.
Mrs. Food ordered a pasta dish stuffed with seasoned ground lamb ššāand she really enjoyed it! It was rich and hearty, though filling enough that most of it came home with us. I tried a few bites myself and was impressed.
I was also really curious to try Turkish coffee āāsomething Iāve never hadābut unfortunately the machine was down during our visit. Guess that just gives me a reason to come back š
Overall, we had a great experience at Edessaāfriendly service, unique flavors, and a menu that makes you want to try everything. If youāre in Nashville and want something a little different, this place is absolutely worth checking out! š
