The idea of a med F***y is not new. Personally, I was introduced to it by a Chicago SWAT officer, which directly informed and inspired the genesis of the Water Boss F***y layout. The concept was simple - everything you need to produce clean water in a package that can be quick accessed by yourself OR just as easily handed off to someone else. We built the immensely popular Water Boss F***y Kit from this idea around the BIG f***y sack. The next logical progression was to do the exactly same thing with medical supplies. Everything you need at the point of trauma - either for yourself or a buddy. We expanded this offering in the smaller, original Mk3 F***y which can fit both the stripped down Mini First Aid Kit (M-FAK), and the full-size SIRK kit. In the event you’re looking for something even bigger, we are offering the SIRK kit with an extra TQ and all three Field Kits all in a Spiritus BIG f***y as well. What’s your med plan? As any medical professional will tell you, while water and med are NOT the same thing, they definitely go hand-in-hand. We’re proud to introduce Cana Provisions medical kits built around North American rescue components, the manufacturer trusted by the US military and units worldwide. We built out two different kits based around what we’ve seen over and over again with traumatic injuries - both in a Mini format and an IFAK format. The Katadyn Steripen Ultra harnesses the power of UV light to deliver high purity water. Effective against bacteria, viruses, protozoa and cysts, the Steripen holds the independent WQA Gold Seal for the elimination of 99.99% of these organisms. As cloudy, sediment-laden water hinders the effectiveness of UV light as a disinfectant method, when dealing with cloudy water, we recommend the use of the Katadyn Steripen prefilter OR another consistent method of pre-filtration before treatment to ensure thorough results. Let’s talk filters for a moment. Hollow-tube type gravity filters function by providing a set of tubes with pores (holes) along their surface. These holes (0.2 micron or less) prevent sediment and microbiology from passing through them and subsequently provide a cleaner filtrate (the water passing through them). However, it still leaves all that crud built up inside the filter between all three straws, which will over time clog the filter and eventually totally choke off the water flow. In order to keep your filter operating efficiently, you need to keep it free of this build up. The single BEST WAY to do this is to avoid introducing sediment into it in the first place. An extremely easy way to do this is with a settling bucket. If you have the time and opportunity, allow gravity and time to do the work for you.
