A little life and page update 💭🌸

I have been thinking about this for a while and wanted to share it with y’all. Bayou Bites and Booze is slowly going through a rebrand.

Nothing dramatic, nothing negative. I still love what I’ve built, but I’ve grown and my creativity has grown too. I want this page to finally look and feel the way I’ve always pictured it.

Food has always meant a lot to me. It has been comfort, creativity, and hope survival at different points in my life. I grew up learning how to make something out of whatever I had, and that part of me is still here. I just feel ready to elevate things a little.

The vibe moving forward is very me. Think bayou charm with bright florals and playful color. Kinda Southern, kinda bold, feminine, fun, and just happy. If you love food that doesn’t follow strict rules and pretty visuals, you’ll probably like what’s coming.

I’ll still be sharing recipes, comfort food, creative cooking, and little lifestyle things I enjoy like skincare and makeup. Same heart, same love for food, just a glow up.

Thank you to everyone who’s supported me and followed along. I’m excited about this next chapter and grateful to have y’all here 💕🌸

✨ Nana’s Little Goodies ✨

Sometimes the most loved desserts are the ones made from the simplest things. Nana’s Little Goodies have been a Christmas tradition in my family for as long as I can remember. Just peanut butter, crackers, and melted chocolate… that is it. Three little ingredients that somehow turn into pure holiday comfort.

I made these with my Nana every single year and I still make them today. They take no time at all, the kids can help, and they always disappear faster than anything else on the dessert table.

If you need a quick Christmas treat that feels warm, nostalgic, and made with love, this one is for you.

Nana’s Little Goodies

A simple three ingredient Christmas treat

Ingredients:
• Peanut butter
• Round buttery crackers
• Melted chocolate or chocolate chips

Instructions:
1.) Spread a generous layer of peanut butter on one cracker.
2.) Top it with a second cracker to make a little sandwich.
3.) Dip the whole sandwich into your melted chocolate.
4.) Place each one on parchment paper to set.
5.) Let the chocolate firm up. You can refrigerate them if you want them ready sooner.

That is it. Simple, sweet, and full of Nana’s love.

Today feels like a good day to slow down for a moment and just breathe. A day to look around at the people we love, the food on the table, the little pieces of comfort that made this year easier, and the unexpected joys that carried us through things we did not always talk about out loud.

I want to take a moment to talk straight from my heart.
If you are reading this, I want you to know something.
You matter to me more than you realize.

I know we see each other through screens and recipes and stories, but I think about the people who show up here. I think about the ones who save posts, leave a kind comment, or quietly read without ever saying a word. I think about the people who come to this page looking for comfort, inspiration, or just a little peace. Every single one of you feels like family to me.

You are the reason I keep creating.
You are the reason I love doing this.
And you are the reason this space feels warm instead of lonely.

If today is filled with laughter for you, I am happy for you with my entire heart.
If today is heavy or quiet or complicated, I am holding space for you too.
Family can be chosen. Community can be built. Love can grow in the most unexpected places. And sometimes the people who feel closest to us are the ones we never even met in person.

So from my kitchen and my home to yours, I am sending love, comfort, and a gentle reminder that you are not walking your life alone. You deserve good things. You deserve softness. You deserve people around you who see the best in you, even on the days you struggle to see it yourself.

Thank you for being here.
Thank you for supporting me.
Thank you for letting me share pieces of my life and giving me a place in yours.

I hope your Thanksgiving is full of flavor, comfort, and moments that remind you how loved you are. And if no one told you yet today, I am grateful for you. Truly.

Happy Thanksgiving, friend.
You are part of this family now.

Bayou Bites and Booze: Why I Love Mocktails and My Favorite Thanksgiving Sips:

I know the name of this blog makes people think I am shaking drinks like a bartender in the French Quarter, but here is the honest truth. I have never been a big alcohol person. I can make a good cocktail if the moment calls for it, but when I am relaxing at home or creating something for my own comfort, I reach for mocktails every single time.

Mocktails feel warm and safe to me. They let everyone feel included. They are drinks you can share with your kids without thinking twice. They let anyone enjoy something festive without pressure. I grew up around people who believed offering a drink was part of being a good host, but I also learned that hospitality can feel just as loving without alcohol. It is about the intention, the flavor, the memory that a sip creates.

So while a cocktail may show up here and there, mocktails are the drinks that really feel like my personality. And with Thanksgiving getting close, I wanted to share a few of my favorite ones. They are simple, comforting, and perfect for sipping while the house smells like food and family fills the air.

Here are three that never fail to bring that warm holiday feeling.

Spiced Apple Honey Fizz

This one tastes like walking into your kitchen on Thanksgiving morning while something sweet is baking.

Ingredients for one drink:
• One half cup apple cider
• One tablespoon honey or brown sugar syrup
• One teaspoon lemon juice
• Ginger ale or sparkling water to top off
• Apple slices
• One cinnamon stick

Instructions:
• Stir the apple cider with the honey and lemon juice.
• Fill your glass with ice.
• Top with ginger ale if you want it a little sweeter or sparkling water if you want it lighter.
• Add apple slices and a cinnamon stick on top.

Cranberry Citrus Mock Mimosa

This one is bright, bubbly, and looks beautiful on any table.

Ingredients for one drink:
• One half cup cranberry juice
• One fourth cup orange juice
• Sparkling white grape juice to fill the rest of the glass
• One rosemary sprig or an orange peel twist

Instructions:
• Pour the cranberry juice and orange juice into your glass.
• Fill the rest of the glass with sparkling white grape juice.
• Garnish with either rosemary or a simple orange twist.

Toasted Marshmallow Hot Cocoa Float

This one is comfort in a mug. It feels like dessert and a drink at the same time.

Ingredients for one mug:
• One cup hot chocolate
• One or two scoops vanilla ice cream
• One half cup mini marshmallows
• Caramel sauce for the top

Instructions:
• Pour the hot chocolate into your favorite mug.
• Add one big scoop of vanilla ice cream.
• Cover the top with marshmallows.
• Torch them or place them under the broiler until they get that perfect golden color.
• Finish with a little caramel drizzle.

🍂 Bayou Bites & Booze: The Dessert That Disappears First

Brown Sugar Cinnamon Crunch Cheesecake Bars

These cheesecake bars are the sweet spot between “effortless” and “holey moley, who made this?”
They’re creamy, buttery, cinnamon-spiced, and topped with a crackly brown-sugar crumble that tastes like the top of a snickerdoodle cookie.

They slice beautifully.
They travel beautifully.
And people will absolutely ask you to bring them every year.

✨ Brown Sugar Cinnamon Crunch Cheesecake Bars

Serves: 12–16
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Bake Time: 35–40 minutes
Chill Time: Minimum 2 hours (overnight is chef’s kiss)

Ingredients:

Crust:
• 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
• 1/4 cup brown sugar
• 6 tbsp melted butter

Cheesecake Filling:
• 2 (8 oz) blocks cream cheese, softened
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup sour cream
• 2 eggs
• 1 tbsp vanilla
• 1 tbsp lemon juice (keeps it bright, you won’t taste lemon)

Cinnamon Crunch Topping:
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 1/2 cup flour
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 4 tbsp cold butter, cubed

🥄 Instructions:

1.) Preheat: Heat your oven to 325°F.

2.) Make the crust: Mix graham crumbs + brown sugar + melted butter.
Press firmly into an 8×8 or 9×9 baking pan lined with parchment.
Bake 8 minutes. Set aside.

3.) Make the cheesecake layer: Beat cream cheese until smooth.
Add sugar, sour cream, vanilla, and lemon juice.
Mix in eggs last, gently, just until combined.
Pour over the crust.

4.) Make the cinnamon crunch: Mix brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon.
Cut in the butter with a fork until it forms chunky crumbs.
Sprinkle all over the cheesecake batter.

5.) Bake: Bake 35–40 minutes until the center is set but still slightly jiggly.

6.) Chill: This is the hardest part:
Refrigerate at least 2 hours so they slice cleanly and set fully.

7.) Serve: Cut into bars. Dust with a little cinnamon sugar if you’re feeling extra.

🌾 Why They’re Thanksgiving-Perfect:

✔ Way easier than a full cheesecake
✔ Feels fancy but takes 10 minutes of effort
✔ Warm cinnamon vibes without needing apple or pumpkin
✔ The topping tastes like a snickerdoodle cookie married a crumble pie

⚜️ Sweet & Spicy Bayou Pumpkin Seeds

What you’ll need:

• 1 cup cleaned pumpkin seeds (rinsed & dried well)

• 1 tbsp melted butter (or oil)

• 1½ tbsp brown sugar

• ½ tsp Cajun seasoning

• ¼ tsp smoked paprika

• ¼ tsp cinnamon (optional, but balances the heat)

• ¼ tsp cayenne (more or less depending on your spice tolerance)

• Pinch of salt

🔥 How to make it:

1.) Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).

2.) In a bowl, toss seeds with melted butter, brown sugar, and all the spices until coated evenly.

3.) Spread in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

4.) Roast for 25–30 minutes, stirring halfway through.

5.) Let cool completely, they’ll crisp up as they cool.

💡 Flavor Tips:

• For a sticky, caramelized vibe: drizzle 1 tsp honey or maple syrup over them before the last 10 minutes of baking.

• For extra crunch: sprinkle a touch of raw sugar right after removing from the oven.

• If you want big bold flavor, add a dash of hot sauce to the butter mix (Tabasco, Crystal, or Slap Ya Mama hot sauce works beautifully).
