Humble Hutch Rabbitry

Big news in the rabbit world! 2027 National ARBA Convention will be in Madison, WI. I told the boys we will have to go!

While we likely won’t have any rabbits entered, it will still be a blast to go and look around. Imagine nearly 20,000 rabbits in one place with all the trade show and workshops too!

Two littermates looking for a 🏠. Both are young, and really could use some more finishing. I wish I could keep them both and grow them out, but cage space is short. Specific information is under each picture. PM for more information.

Finally got a chance to look at results from the Cambridge show this past weekend. Some highlights:

-Bad Bunny's Spot (BSB) earned two top third finishes, 3rd of 12 in the Holland Lop specialty show and 2nd of 5 in one of the youth shows.
-Humble's Lucky Duck (BJB) finished 3rd out of 9 in the specialty show. He is the first homegrown rabbit that has earned sweepstakes points for us!
-Patrick bumped up a showmanship class into Intermediate and got some great experience

At the beginning of the year I set a goal of consistently finishing in the top half of classes. While I haven't quite gotten there yet, this last year of breedings is showing good progress toward this goal!

Leah’s Caramel is still looking for new hay!

DOB: 6/26/2024
Buck - Black Tort
Weight: 3lbs 13oz
Proven
Located in Hutchinson, MN will also be at Cambridge show this coming weekend.

Nice HEC, plus overall nice structure. I’d like to see heavier bone and more width overall.
Really well mannered animal, he would make a fantastic showmanship animal.

Currently he’s in a nasty molt, these pictures were taken two weeks ago before he blew his coat.

We were finally able to make it to a show on Saturday show for the MSRBA State Show in Sauk Rapids! For us this weekend was all about looking to the future.
We had several juniors looking for comments and a few seniors for both open and youth.

Notable finishes include…
Bad Bunny’s Spot received Best Opposite S*x (BOS) and Best of Variety (BOV) for youth Hollands

Henry received Reserve Champion Novice Showmanship

We were also able to pick up HLOC’s Sugar Daddy (Jr Black Buck) to add to our herd. I’m hopefully that he will go a long way toward helping fix our front end issues in future breedings. Be looking for his offspring next spring!

At one point Henry turned to me and said “Dad, I feel like all you did was stand and talk to people.” He was absolutely right - the best part of these shows are talking with others. Getting advice, offering feedback; it all goes toward building our herd and our ability as rabbit breeders!
