Flanner Farms Flanner Farms is an urban farm located in the midst of the largest food desert in the city of Indianapolis; the Northwest area. St, Indianapolis, IN 46208.

It is specifically located at Flanner House Community Center at 2424 Doctor MLK Jr. The farm was started by a partnership between Flanner House and Brandywine Creek farms, a non-profit organization. The northwest area of Indianapolis is the largest food desert in Indy which makes sustainable urban agriculture a high demand. On the heels of the remaining Double 8 grocery stores closing, Flanner House established its 1.5 acre Flanner Farm to address the rapid food scarcity in our catchment area and beyond. Flanner Farm allows us to provide healthy, affordable, culturally appropriate produce to those who need it most, while becoming food secure and self-sufficient in the process.

In addition to all of our work growing delicious fruits and vegetables, the Flanner Farms team has worked hard to create a native plant and wildlife sanctuary full of beautiful bugs, rare reptiles, wonderful wildflowers, and bold birds!
On Sunday, October 4th, we are hosting a BIO BLITZ to help catalogue as many species as possible to help us get a better understanding of the diversity we have cultivated on the farm over the past six years of restoration work.
Everyone is welcomed to come join us! All you need is a smart phone with the (free) iNaturalist app.
The farm can be particularly photogenic in early autumn, so any photography enthusiasts are welcome to bring their cameras as well!
See you soon!

🚨We need your help!!!🚨
We are feeling the impacts of climate change here on the farm. More frequent, longer-lasting periods of extreme weather have stressed our crops, created unsafe conditions for our farm workers, and created the perfect conditions for aggressive, invasive plant species to explode across the farm.
If you are available and willing, we could definitely use some help this Monday and Tuesday beating back some of these awful plants!
We need help tackling a number of invasive plants, but Japanese Hops is our biggest threat right now. Please come prepared with gloves, appropriate footwear, water bottles, and tough clothes. Meet us at the farm gates by the Ujamaa entrance. Thank you!!!

Enjoy the sights and sounds of late summer in Indianapolis. We have worked so hard to recreate healthy habitats for native plants and animals. And it is paying off. Native predators and pollinators alike have reestablished themselves at Flanner Farms.
