It’s been quiet at the farm.

Once school starts, life goes into momma mode and we’re back into the routine of school, homework and evening time together.

Time in the garden disappears for the season.

We’ve been so lucky to have a beautiful fall. The blooms have continued this last month, but we’ve just been enjoying them here at the farm. (The bugs came back too, but we won’t talk about that).

Thank you, for a beautiful season at Honey Creek 💕

This is a labor of love. Of patience. Of endurance. Of beauty. And of hope.

Thank you to each of you that made this season so wonderful 💚

Love,
Emily, August and Hazel

The zinnias be showing off this year! 😳😍

While they haven’t been huge fans of the rain all summer, now that it’s been dry for a week, they’re really going to work! 💪🏻

This summer has been filled with so many incredible moments.

I’ve had the immense pleasure of designing arrangements for all sorts of life events:

💖Anniversaries
💖Numerous “my neighbor needs a little cheer” moments
💖Calls from across the country asking “Can you help? My friend has had a rough go” (this one was an amazing call!!!)
💖Weekly pick-me-ups
💖Birthdays

And so much more.

I’m SO lucky that I get to be a small but mighty part in all of your lives.

If I could capture all of the sweet smiles of each person receiving a bouquet, man, I would.

Those are the moments that keep me going.

Knowing that these blooms can make a person feel so loved and so cheerful.

It makes it all worth it.

So, while the season is far from over, I just want to say, thank you.

Y’all have been the absolute best and I’m grateful for every order that comes in!

This week I’ll be delivering to the Jackson schools, if you’d like to spread even more cheer to students and staff returning to classes.

Or, the just becauses are just as important! 💕

One thing I subtly changed this year in my garden was adding a few more vegetables.

I always plant the classics—corn, peas, carrots, beans when I need them, maybe one tomato plant and one pepper plant.

This year, however, I planted vegetable starters for all of you! I don’t often need a four pack of plants from the greenhouse, so I offered individual plants for sale this spring—that way, if you deck garden or have a smaller scale garden, like myself, you could pick and choose what you want to grow!

For me, this meant I could plant a few more plants, and if they grew well, possibly sell some veggies to you, as well!

As fate would have it—it seems like I had just enough plants fail that I’m at a place where I can mostly keep up with the produce! (I’ll never be able to make this happen again in a million years 😂)

So, here’s what I’ve been up to, in addition to making bouquets weekly—preserving these veggies!

I’ve canned for the first time ever—I’m up to about 30 pints of pickles, frozen corn last weekend, and made jam for the first time ever! I also am trying my hand with our dehydrator!

It’s been a fun summer in the garden! I’m learning a lot, and figuring out even more what works and doesn’t work in my garden!

Also—if you need some cucumbers, let me know! I’m up to my ears on them! 😂🥒

Welcome to Honey Creek Flower Farm!

My name is Emily. I have loved to garden my entire life—well, my mom might argue differently. She did make my sisters and me w**d the garden growing up and I can’t seem to remember if I did that very willingly or not 😂

But as I’ve aged, having a garden where I lived was of high importance.

I love working the soil. Planting the seeds and watching the seedlings grow. Marveling at how something so small could produce so much.

About four years ago I got the notion to start growing cut flowers. And then, on a whim, I sold a few bouquets!

To my amazement and utter delight, so many of you ordered bouquets and supported my little flower farm over the years.

I’ve added space, tried new varieties of flowers, add vegetable starters, mixed and matched and made it fit what I need it to fit in each season.

I started this business as a way to support my kiddos. Fun money. Adventure money.

And it’s grown into so much more.

Today, my kids are helping me plant, grow and sell the flowers as they can (or as I make them 😁). And they’re earning their own fun money!

And I *hope* I’m showing them how worth it they are to take a chance on themselves. To give something a try when they might stumble and fail. To show them how to pick themselves up again and try again.

Thank you, for being part of this journey with me—whether you’re buying a bouquet here and there or liking my posts and cheering us on from afar.

I’m so glad you’re part of the Honey Creek family. 🍯💐
