I have to admit. I look forward to the day of my fundraisers! It means that most of the heavy lifting is done. I'm just not as nimble as I used to be! LOL

Anyway, I'm 90% ready to go for pickup today - soups are portioned and refrigerated, baked goods are done and ready to be portioned and packaged, spreadsheets are updated with up to the minute info.

What's next, you ask?? Porchfest goodies, for sure!! Then I will be on a break for a few weeks, so nothing for Thanksgiving this year. BUT I am planning some very select things for December.

2027 is approaching quickly and I don't have any firm plans, only that I know I just can't continue to do the larger events like today. Time to find a way to give back that's a little easier on my body. As I approach my 68th birthday (who knew I would actually make it this far??) I feel satisfied with what has been done so far.

Hard to fathom that I retired from my "real" career almost 6 years ago already. I really have enjoyed reinventing myself regularly, with my little bakery and all of the rest of it.

And BIG THANKS to all of you!! Without your support none of this happens. HUGE shout-out to my Friday sous chef Pete Stitz! Those of you who are getting the Butternut Squash or Tortilla soups today - he had a big hand in putting those together!

Every day is a gift. As I age, those words become the center of my mantra. Enjoy your people, love your family and framily BIG. Those moments today will be memories down the road, and the time spent is SO worth it.

Been wanting to try these sourdough discard burger buns, anyway, so I made a double batch.

There will be 3 4-packs available! They will be ready for pick up after 3 PM today. 

These have dairy and eggs in them.

Good morning all my friends and neighbors!

This Sunday will be your pick up of soups and sweets for my Equality Florida fundraiser!

I’ll be messaging each of you in the next day or two with more details.

If you’ve not already sent me your donation, that will be first on my list! I’d like to receive all donations in hand by Thursday at the very latest because I will be knee-deep in prep and will honestly not have time to follow up.

To those of you who have already donated, thank you so very much! 

We’ve just recently passed the one year anniversary of losing our friend Mike. I feel like he would be so very happy about this upcoming fundraiser. It is the very best way we can all honor his vision. 

I will post a donation summary later this morning, so you can see our progress!

Now I gotta go work on my plan! 🥰

Hello all! I’m going to be doing a little stress baking this afternoon since I have two family members in the hospital.

My question for you is,

Pumpkin spice muffins

Or

Pumpkin spice bread??

They both will have sourdough discard in them so will be nice and moist. Probably a little glaze on the bread, but just some turbinado sugar on the muffins. That way they don’t have to be refrigerated. The bread is a quick bread kind of like banana bread style. Probably do the mini loaves. 

Vote for one or the other and that’s what I will make this afternoon!

I’m thinking it’s finally feeling a little more like the weather is changing. Since it’s been constant drizzle and some downpours over the last few days and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to stop anytime very soon, I thought I would get some good smells going today in the house.

I’ve been wanting to try something different pumpkin this year. So I’ve been watching the sourdough hoe who is also a Florida Baker.  She’s pretty entertaining. 

So today I whipped up a double batch of her Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake S’Muffins. They have a good amount of sourdough starter in the mix and the icing is very rich and creamy.

These just came out of the oven, so not cool enough to ice yet. I’ll be doing that a little bit later this afternoon and gifting a few to the guys over AA Auto on Main Street who did a lot of work on the Bronco yesterday. 

I’ll have a half dozen left, available for $3 each! These are the jumbo size, about double that of a standard size muffin.

Anybody hungry for fall? Comment below and these will be available after 5 PM today. If you’re not going to eat these right away, it’s best to store them in the fridge until you do. Then give them a little time on the counter to warm up just a little before you dig in.
