A few years ago, during COVID, Mimie's Kitchen was created to help those in need in the USA and Malaysia. We've helped so many families and students no matter what their background or stories. The business took off until today, and numerous generous donations were received.
Over the past few years, I received so many friend requests on Facebook. Total strangers I never met or knew, but today was even special - I received a call from someone with the same story and reason why they reached out. It was to extend gratitude and thank me personally for helping them while they were in need without asking anything in return. She said I helped her parents, and a few years later, their life is better, their business is successful, and they were inspired by us to continue this legacy of helping others in need.
This is only possible with the help of others who trusted me and generously donated (mostly strangers too!) and created this amazing community using my business as a platform.
I often ask why I'm here, why I'm exist, what I want in life. With the world/society measuring others' importance by fame, wealth, and success, I feel nonexistent, like I don't do enough, and that someday I will be forgotten. But today's call reminds me of the importance of it. Our contributions, big or small, touch others' lives and create a domino effect. It made me feel blessed and understand my very existence in this world. And I told my kids, don't chase fame, money, or success. But never stop helping, be grateful, and touch others lives in a way you can and know how. Make a difference to make the world a better place for generations.
And this is another reason I still do what I do, and the only way I know how - cooking and helping others with it. Not for the business to be successful but to keep on helping those in need, according to God's will.
