š³š¼ Project Highlight: The Memory Garden at Moonlight Farms š¼š³
Today, we want to share one of the most meaningful and deeply personal projects planned for Moonlight FarmsāThe Memory Garden.
Grief is a journey with no map. And while it never truly ends, we believe nature has a way of holding us gently as we walk through it. Thatās what the Memory Garden is being created for: a peaceful sanctuary where love, loss, and healing can exist side by side.
Nestled beneath mature trees near a quiet body of water and just beyond the reach of our vibrant flower fields, the Memory Garden will offer a space for stillness and reflectionāundisturbed, calm, and sacred. Visitors will be welcomed into a serene natural setting where handmade benches, hammocks, and swings provide cozy places to sit, reflect, or simply be present with your memories.
Softly whispering fountains and birdbaths will dot the garden, inviting birds and butterflies while adding a gentle, soothing soundtrack to every visit. In the heart of the space, a Circle of Life will be formed from fallen logs and reclaimed bricksāsurrounding a young weeping willow, a tree long symbolizing grief, mourning, and resilience. As it grows, it will stand as a living tribute to the strength it takes to keep going, and the beauty that still grows from loss.
What makes this garden even more special is how personal it will be. Families will be invited to:
šæ Create custom stone pavers in honor of a loved one
šæ Plant a tree or flowering plant as a living tribute
šØ Paint or write messages on our Memory Fence, giving children and adults alike the freedom to express their hearts in color and creativity
šø Choose from hand-selected plants that thrive in Florida and bloom throughout the yearāensuring thereās always something beautiful to see, no matter the season
The Memory Garden isnāt a place to forget. Itās a place to remember with grace. A safe, judgment-free space to grieve, to reflect, and to reconnect with the idea that even in the hardest seasons of life, something beautiful can still grow.
For me personally, this garden is more than just a visionāitās a reflection of my own journey. Farming and nature helped me understand the shape of grief and taught me how to find meaning in its presence. I truly believe this space will become a sacred part of the healing journey for so many of our guestsājust as the land has been for me.
š Whether youāve experienced loss, are supporting someone who has, or simply believe in creating spaces where grief and growth can coexistāwe invite you to follow along, share this post, and consider supporting the development of the Memory Garden.
Good morning, friends and family.
As many of you know, Iām Sasha Coveyāthe owner and heart behind Moonlight Farms. This is the long-awaited update on a dream Iāve carried for much of my life, and one Iāve been working hard to shape into reality over the past year.
šæ The future of Moonlight Farms is no longer just about teachingāitās about healing.
While there are many animal rescues and sanctuaries out there, whatās long been missing is a place where people come to recoverāthrough hands-on connection with nature and the most fundamental rhythms of life. A place where healing is found in the dirt, the animals, the stillness, and the seasons.
When people learn how to truly care for animalsāwhen they grow food with their own handsātheir perspective shifts. They build connection, compassion, and self-worth. And when that happens, the world becomes a softer place.
But what about families facing unimaginable hardshipālike childhood cancer, or a parent undergoing treatment? What about veterans carrying unseen wounds, or those living with trauma and grief?
š» Moonlight Farms is being built for them.
Weāre creating a safe, welcoming space where families can heal together. Where they can:
Snuggle with animals,
Plant gardens,
Build memory spaces,
Take a breath.
š Weāre building:
A wishing pond,
A memory garden,
Flower fields for native pollinators and beauty therapy,
4-H style programs for hands-on growth,
And most importantly, free wellness experiences for those who need them most.
We donāt want this to be a one-time āfeel-goodā moment. We want to build a sustainable, ongoing program that never asks a struggling family to pay for hope.
Thatās why weāre creating a for-profit, working farm that sells quality food, goods, classes, and garden plotsāso that the profits can fund all the free programs. From livestock education to fresh bread and pasta-making, weāll teach real-life skillsābecause learning can heal, too.
We already have so much to offer:
š A full herd of breeding pigs
š A thriving, self-sustaining flock of laying hens
š Award-winning show birds weāve bred for years
š§ A decade of hands-on experience in animal husbandry and a life shaped by the healing power of farming
We also have:
A growing community of families waiting for this farm to open
Support from local hospital board members who see its therapeutic value
And a network of passionate teachersāfrom counselors to composting instructorsāready to contribute
Even the NIH has backed studies showing the power of animal-assisted therapy and nature-based healing. This program isnāt just a visionāitās a proven, needed path forward.
š§” So now, Iām asking for your help.
Please support our GoFundMeāwhether that means giving what you can, sharing the link, or tagging someone who can make a big difference.
So many have said, āSasha, your passion, your lived experience, and your grit canāt be hired. This is something only you could create.ā I donāt want riches. I want restoration. For families like mine. For people like me, before I found this life.
Help us grow Moonlight Farms into a place where people donāt just visitāthey heal.
šŖ“ Like. Share. Tag someone who believes in community healing.
With love and gratitude,
Sasha Covey
