This Farm, five miles east of Jacksonville, Illinois, was established in 1824 by Michael Huffaker. The 1840 home became a stop on the Underground Railroad.

After much consideration, the Underground Railroad Committee has decided to postpone the fall bus tour to ensure the health and safety of both our volunteers and visitors. I've been working hard this week creating the short documentary film for Woodlawn Farm - Jacksonville, Illinois The final film will be coming out later this month and the story of how it came to be is quite interesting. If you've never visited the farm, I would encourage you to plan a trip and experience a guided tour and find out the part it played in the Underground Railroad network. We were excited to welcome Illinois Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton to campus as part of her tour of Jacksonville. Stratton toured historic Beecher Hall and the Woodlawn Farm - Jacksonville, Illinois in recognition of #blackhistorymonth in Illinois. President Barbara A. Farley and Samantha Sauer, campus archivist and curator, were on hand to give a tour of Beecher, tracing the long history the college has of promoting abolition and the underground railroad in the early 19th century.
